Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Very nice job on the Kermit - and the photos! The first one showed that it could pass for a real one (or at least a professional replica)...the second shows he has the flexibility a frog should have for those classic expressions and #3 was a nifty surprise with that addition.
Even though i...
Well, that all depends on what IS actually going on with Steve. Is his recent absence as Kermit a "Disney thing" or is something wrong with Steve? If this is a case of Disney replacing Steve, then there should be no effect on Steve's playing Ernie since Sesame Workshop and Disney are two...
Stevie "Wonder" is a true talent we've seen grow up and blossom. We saw his beginnings on The Muppet Show where he started off small and took some time to be comfortable with doing different voices (when he began, most his characters sounded the same which is extraordinary compared to now when...
You may want to check your local libraries to see if they have any Wubbulous or Dr. Suess videos/dvds.
If you're using them as references as how to play the character, while it can be helpful to see how other people have interpreted the character, don't be afraid to rely on your own instinct...
(Neat thread title - hee!)
Neil Patrick Harris just happens to be a huge Muppet fan himself (how cool is it that two of the most openly Muppet fanatic celebs are on the same show!) As Emmy host, he gets to throw out ideas for musical numbers, acts, monologues, stuff he'd like to do. I can...
Y'know, one thing (among many actually) that i'm wondering is IF Jason Segel is actually going to be involved with Cheapest?
I guess this is really a question for those who were at D23 during Dick Cook's announcement...was Segel's name ever actually MENTIONED as being attached to the project...
Wouldn't it be just like Gonzo to make an unexpected unannounced cameo on The Office, have someone ask "what are YOU doing here?" and Gonzo reply "Oops - wrong night!"
Nope, haven't forgotten. But it seems like Sesame Workshop and Henson Company are in the dark as to what's going on with Steve. Plus three days before the debut of Kismet the Frog, Steve was not among the group attending the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony.
I've said before that i'm accepting...
Artie's performances have been good. Servicable. As i said upthread i see a lot of potential...but that's all i've seen: potential. Good (i could even go so far as saying "great" as far as recasts go)...but Steve was "superior" and even though one wouldn't expect a recast to also be...
After some video footage from D23 has been working its way onto the web, it's really becoming a lot clearer how great a lot of the new design changes are...it's much more noticable in video footage than odd still photos (especially with Sam because the way he was lit makes him look odd in some...
I once heard someone say that the music one listens to their senior year of high school is the music that will tend to stick with them and essentially remain their favorite throughout the rest of their lives. If that's true, that probably makes me very biased because that's when i grew up (class...
But how do we KNOW Gonzo wasn't on? Maybe Disney/Puppet Heap decided to do some more tweaking of the design and we didn't recognize him...
...and all along i thought that puppet that was on earlier was supposed to be TINA TURNER! (or was that Camilla?)
...and among the box sets that Shout had put out are the Electric Company dvds (also by Children's Television Workshop aka Sesame Workshop)...in between that and the simple fact that the Sesame DVD's are a hot property that is a major strength of Genius (and let's face it, Vivendi purchased them...
Very nice letter Ryan. But if you haven't sent it out yet, here's my constructive feedback:
The whole point of the petition you started was to get answers about what happened to Steve. The letter didn't really have that message; it was basically a general expression of distaste at there...
You might want to check out my post in the Steve Whitmire petetion thread. Until we have an answer on what's going on with Steve, i'm referring to faux Kermit as Kismet the Toad - and if you do check out my post there, you'll also find some other interesting connections between the two...
Just to add/confirm to what's been said. You should not be experiencing that much of a voice loss after a show if you're using your voice right. You may need to reexamine the voices you're using for your characters, doing less things from the throat, nothing too low and especially too high for...
I'd vote for Eric making his debut as Marvin Suggs. I could see Marvin (or Lew Zealand for that matter) thinking they never were fully showcased with the Muppets team and branching out to try to show up on AGT trying to win the competition (hey, how about if Marvin and Lew teamed up for an act!)
