Here's my just for fun guess on characters that I think we're likely to see in the line based on my guess about interest for Palisades collectors and generally in Tiers of likelihood.
Tier 1: Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Piggy, Rowlf, Animal
Tier 2: Janice, Floyd, Dr. Teeth, Zoot
Tier 3: Bean Bunny, Mahna Mahna and Snowths, Bobo, Lips
Tier 4: Crazy Harry, Wayne and Wanda, Statler and Waldorf

I'm so excited to see what's coming for this and their Sesame Street line!
idk; normies really seem to love Statler and Waldorf, in addition to Beaker, Animal and Chef.

I know many people view Sal as "the one that got away", but I don't really think he has the same appeal as Muppet Show characters. My top pick for "characters Palisades didn't do" is Mahna Mahna & Snowths. Wayne and Wanda would be fun and crazy but have me worried about sales if I were NECA.

Sal was the one that got away 20 years ago, but I don't see him being done anytime soon.

As you referenced, we should expect to see characters that "normies" know. Snowths and Manah Manah are probably a shoe in, which would be great since we dont have them in this scale.

I doubt we will see Wayne and Wanda unless this line does VERY well.

I hope NECA is able to walk the line between both licenses and give us a Reporter Kermit with a hat.

Also, if the buzz online is to be believed, a lot of people really want to get their hands on this line. I hope they have some good retail presence so the "normies" see these IRL.

This is nice news for me personally, I've been needing a new Kermit ever since my DST figure's leg snapped off 8-9 years ago, and I'd LOVE a figure of Rowlf as well; I'm sure NECA will knock it out of the park.

I've noticed they've removed this reveal from their social media. I wonder if someone was trigger happy & posted it too early. Also this line will be in good hands sculpt wise as Paul Harding ( who sculpted their Bert, Ernie & The Count) announced he's a part of this line. Another thing to note is Trevor who works for NECA & i think is head of the Sesame line ( & assuming will also head the Muppets) used to work for Palisades so that might give us a chance for more obscure characters early on. I think the reason they're making Frazzle so early on is because he's a fan ( I hope he's a fan of Digit lol)

The one thing i hope they do is pack in characters. That's what made the Palisades line so great. The Java's, MAMMA, Polly Lobster I hope we get that energy from NECA. I mean Robin has got to be included with Kermit surely.

I assume the 80s since I think that might've been when most of the iconic lineup really came into their own, if Sesame Street is anything to go by and they're putting out the more recognizable characters first?

It depends on what Disney wants. The one that it matters for most is Poggy, though. Even if Disney really wants the most current looks, the other characters can be cheated to whatever era NECA wants. Piggy, however, has very specific looks from decade to decade, or even year to year on TMS.
