Yes, indeed I am! That's why Julia is my favorite Muppet.
I respect how you feel about opera (I'm Konnichiku from the BLoSC Wiki, and I think this is why Rick Riordan made opera a punishment in the underworld.) I felt the same about certain sounds as a kid, and I still froggin' hate them!I'm going to be honest here...I did not like Between the Lions as a little kid. In fact, I used to be afraid to watch PBS Kids because I was afraid Between the Lions would come on at any random moment. And the reason for that may seem pretty dumb to you, but please don't make fun of me because it's really not that funny:
It seemed that every episode I was unfortunate enough to stumble upon while channel-surfing had opera in it, whether it was the operatic monkeys in the Monkey Pop-Up Theater or Denyce Graves' spooky vocalizations. (And yes, I know that Sesame Street sometimes featured opera too, but that's beside the point. Besides, thanks to Muppet Wiki I now know which Sesame Street episodes I'll want to avoid. Between the Lions Wiki, on the other hand, is very underdeveloped, which means that the only way to find out, unfortunately, is through videos--and I'm not taking any chances.)
I was just a little kid. I didn't know how to check the TV schedule on the PBS Kids website, so I didn't know what time the show came on, so I was afraid it would come on at any random moment. I eventually overcame this fear, partly thanks to WordGirl (my favorite PBS Kids show of all time) but mostly when Between the Lions was taken off air. So if the show were to be rebooted, I'd be madder than I was when WordGirl stopped airing on our local PBS station (thank heavens for the PBS Kids Video app!)
That said, I liked the "We are Family" video despite the presence of the Between the Lions characters (and Barney), because it also featured a whole bunch of characters I liked. Plus, obviously there was no opera in it.
But if you liked Between the Lions--and if you still do--I respect your opinion.
I personally did enjoy watching the CGI seasons of Thomas & Friends, despite some of the faults and flaws that they had.To be fair, the CGI Thomas and Friends isn't that bad. However Bob the Builder, not my cup of chocolate.
Why wasn't GBH in favor of streaming the show?Every episode of Between the Lion is on YouTube now. I uploaded the missing 2 episodes. http://youtube.com/channel/UCAE4kCP8bomSpML-lFqWSIg/
Finding the missing episodes has taken me 4 years, and I have gotten what I've uploaded from various sources.
I know people wanted the Season 5 episodes to make the show be complete, I did as well, until I found it today.
- Episodes on YouTube
- Season 1 from a DVD at my library (I also got Season 2 and will upload it)
- Season 5 episodes off a Chinese site
- Season 5 Episode 9 off a private website
- Season 6-10 off a certain library site
- Season 7-8 episodes off DVDs at another person library
- Season 10 Ep 1-5 off another certain library site
It was a wild ride finding all these episodes, and Im glad to preserve them. Christopher Cerf, one of the creators of the show, wanted to make it stream but GBH was not in favor of doing that. At least every episode can be watched now
Why do you not see the point of new Between the Lions material being made when the Theo and Cleo puppets have appeared in videos for the Ed Games Expos from 2021 and later?I personally did enjoy watching the CGI seasons of Thomas & Friends, despite some of the faults and flaws that they had.
I definitely did enjoy watching Bob the Builder over the years on PBS, and the show was certainly at its best during the early seasons, and the Project: Build It seasons. The Ready, Steady, Build! seasons were fine for what they were, despite their changes and flaws. Though I absolutely refuse to watch the 2015 reboot of this show.
Anyway, in regards to Between the Lions, while I definitely did enjoy watching it, I do not see the point making a new version or reboot of it. The show did manage to have a solid run of 10 seasons, and it would be best to leave it alone at this point.
