    animatronics / matte paintings / over-long pre-production at Disney

Recently managed to see Island at the Top of the World for the first time. They spent a bundle, worked for years, hired Maurice Jarre to compose the soundtrack but the film didn't find its niche. According to this formidable matte painting blog...

    Augsbuger Puppenkiste

One of the most relaxing experiences possible, the Augsburger Puppenkiste. I love the FACES, the music, the sets, the casual and capable puppeteering style. (Also the spoken German, but I can't undersand much.) Ralphibär is from a recent broadcast. He is entertaining future heavy metal fans...

    Name this puppet series.

I remember a show that matches this description, from Canada, made by TVOntario, I think. I remember looking to see where the show was made at the end because it was unusual at the time. On Wikipedia there is a list of all Canadian Kids' Shows... I looked a bit, did not see it.

    U.S.A., I love you.

Some typical Canadians, getting down in the castle: Takes a bit of discussion to get around to it, however! And the king of kid's T.V. in Canada was...an American, Bob Homme.

    U.S.A., I love you.

Today an American was by on business, and for a stay. He makes me realise again why I love the U.S.A. He is what I would call a "best American"; a real one : he has a lot of class and a lot of pizzazz. He is quiet and strong. It is not rare to meet such a one. (Travelling internationally the...

I thought of a question for you all: How do you think the world will be a better place, fifty years from now?

    Remembering Andy Williams (1927-2012)

Here is a song that shows the different colors of Andy Williams' voice and heart. It is interesting that this effort from him was written off by some as "midle-of-the-road". I don't think that is so. Andy was an adventurer who often passed for a square.

    Ivan and the Moon

Daria Tuminas is a talented, young Russian photographer. She created this photobook from the fantasy/real world of two Russian teenage brothers living in the country. Anyone who is into comics will be reminded of Barry Windsor-Smith. Hope you enjoy it...

What songs scared you as a kid?

The closing theme of the Carol Burnett show used to upset me, scare me... ...because it was true: "before you know it, comes the time you have to say goodbye." Yet I liked it. I tried to shake off the funny feeling it gave me.
