Actually, I do. I grew up with this special. For some reason I had the tape of it. Though, looking back, I can understand why people don't like it. Neither character is really "in character" and the writing is kinda meh...but I still like it. I watched like a month ago XD

I remember watching this when I still had good sight. Which is why I'm kind of glad now not to have to see the trippy triple Fruit Loopish animation restaurant sequence that comes just before the conflict resolution of the special's plot.
But at least we got to see Grinch's parental figures if in past reflective forms in the mirror and tear-puddle.

Oddly enough, I've never heard of it until just now. I'm watching as we speak, and I'm enjoying it.

Actually my signature from a few days ago was from that special:

"Such things never happen in the middle of the day! And if they do I ignore them and they're bound to go away!"

Is there a difference between this and "The Cat in the Hat Gets Grinched"? From what I can tell via Google it's just that the latter was the name of the VHS release or something. For some reason.

ANYWHO (ha, Seussically punny), if it's the one and the same thing then I loved it to bits in the past but haven't watched it in years!

Random House randomly changed the title of two of those specials. For some reason this special got that title, and "Halloween is Grinch Night" was retitled "It's Grinch Night."

This was a great special. I really liked how it gave the Grinch more character development. I mean, look at the change of heart the Grinch had at the end of the original Christmas story. The fact that the deep down Grinchy part of him was disgusted by that and drug him back down to a life of nastiness makes the special for me. I think it's far superior to the Halloween one, which has its charm, but in the end it kinda doesn't have much of a plot. I did like "I have to use the euphemism" though.

Man, I used to watch that special, I believe it came on around Thanksgiving or something but I haven't seen that special in ages. I thought it was called the Grinch meets the Cat in the Hat or something along those lines.

Exactly, it was a very inspired way to continue the Grinch's story. And the whole scene with the Grinch missing his mother is done amazingly well animation-wise. You totally see the transition.
