Another Stupid movie to Overreact to...

Oh dear God, no. I hate that they're making toys of these things. Now every time I go to buy Furbys or Ninja Turtles I'm going to have to look at those creepy things in the toy aisles. This is just as bad as when they had Boo Bahs and Poo-Chi robot dogs in the same aisle ten years ago. Every time I went to buy a Poo-Chi those godawful Boo Bahs toys started singing at me.
What even makes them think Oogieloves toys will sell? The movie was a huge flop. The creators really need to take the hint and stop trying to shove those monstrosities down people's throats.

Don't worry, they'll probably place these with the preschool toys. But for your case with the Boobahs-was the preschool aisle next to the aisle with the Poo Chis? If so, talk about a case of bad location. (By the way, I also collect Furbies, too.)

And as for a series? What network would even take an Oogieloves series after the movie crashed and burned?

I don't know, maybe PBS Kids would? The best time would possibly be Labor Day. Why? Just look at Super Why, The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That! or Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. They all premiered on Labor Day and were heavily promoted because of being touted as new shows that kids would like. The other shows that air on PBS, other than the preschool morning line-up or Arthur? They've all been forgotten about. For example, Angelina Ballerina was popular in the early 2000's (I loved it as a 5-year-old) and now? I barely see anything Angelina Ballerina anymore, the toys seem to have been replaced by Winx Club ones (I also like Winx), since the shows air in dead timeslots or are not cared for well. Also, local shows seem to fall victim to this, like Zula Patrol, Peep and the Big Wide World, this show about two rag doll girls that aired on my PBS station years ago, and My Bedbugs all seem to get nothing devoted to them (Oh, that show with the ragdoll girls I talked about? It only got a McDonald's promotion!). If PBS aired it, they might as well show it on Labor Day to gain it popularity.
Another guess of a network it could air on is CBS. In 2013, CBS' contract with Cookie Jar is said to expire, and they might get a new kids' block. My idea for the block is that it could be like Kids WB and CW4Kids in that the first hour could be comprised of The Oogieloves, and the rest could be normal programming (Garfield and Friends, Beakman's World, Mona The Vampire and Sonic The Hedgehog might sound like good choices to air on there.) But then again, shows aired at the start of the block don't get good ratings at all because in most areas, they air really early in the morning. Look at what happened to the Magical DoReMi reruns on the CW in 2010. They got nowhere above a 0.6 due to them being aired at 7AM. And The Doodlebops (which I've taken a liking to, similar to D'Snowth's old obesssion with Teletubbies) airs at 8AM on most CBS networks, causing ratings no more than a 0.2 on most weeks, even though my CBS affiliate shows it at 10AM.
Then we have Disney Junior. Everything except for Art Attack is animation. I don't think it's a good fit, since Disney Junior is sort of like the Cartoon Network of preschool programs, since most of the programs are cartoons.
Next up: Nick Jr. The only live action programs that weren't puppets that were successful were Blue's Clues, Gullah Gullah Island and Fred Penner's Place. Gullah Gullah had a frog costume, but it wasn't that much Barney like at all...I don't think it would do well...
And finally, we have the Hub. Will it work on there? If they still were interested in preschool programming...
My best bet is the Oogieloves will air on PBS Kids. It would be bizarre to think of it on any other network...
Also, when talking about preschool films being flops, there are a few exceptions to that rule. Thomas and the Magic Railroad grossed about the same amount as it's budget (19 million), and Follow That Bird grossed 13 million. It takes less than 5 million dollars for a film to be a flop, as someone stated earlier.
Also, I think I remember the Haiti PSAs with the Oogieloves in them, because I remember some cute characters doing something for Haiti when I was watching infomercials one night. Does anyone have the Oogieloves Haiti PSA?

You sure seem to know your stuff. Though I know it is, it's hard for me to think of Follow That Bird as a preschool movie. I saw it in theatres when I was about eight or nine. Way past preschool age. I enjoyed it then and I'd probably enjoy it now were I to watch it. It's a quality movie no matter what the audience.

Thw CW programming block is run by Saban, and I'm pretty sure they have better programming ideas than Oogieloves. They're the only Saturday morning block that caters to the 6-10 demographic, and they should keep it that way. I absolutely hate Preschool programming on SatAm schedules. Why, Vortex (the CW block) has things that kids should be watching and want to watch. Power Rangers, Justice League Unlimited, Dragonball Kai. They're even going to run Transformers Prime soon. Heck, they even aired the rare Tiny Toons Halloween special, Night Ghoulery, Twice (once this morning!). I would hate to see that muddied up with terrible preschool shows. That's CBS and NBC's gig.

Other than that, PBS has been good as of late. Superwhy is the only show that's low quality and has that annoying Dora mode of education that has yet to be discredited. I don't think they need a 1990's style big Mascot uniform series, nor would they want it. Neither would Nick Jr. Yo Gabba Gabba fits that description, sure, but it's a show that has an audience of hipsters with kids.

I can't even phrase my disgust at Cookie Jar, and their television programming. Doodlebops?! Really? That thing didn't take off in 2003, why try it 10 years later? Their CBS line up consists of 3 Shows? The heck? They have DIC's entire library. I mean, Ulysees 31 to Sushi Pack. That's 30 years of shows, and the only thing that ever see the light of day is Horseland (yuck) and sometimes Sabrina the Animated series. I like that they are releasing some obscure shows via Mill Creek, but... come on... they have the same shows BOTH on CBS and This TV. At least run Inspector Gadget at a decent hour. I hope CBS gets something good when that license expires. Please no more preschool stuff.

Now for another stupid movie to overreact to on the opposite end of the scale...

Apparently Universal has the rights to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. How do I know? I read this article with basically the FUNNIEST thing I've ever heard.

Essentially Universal is suing the producers of a porongraphic adaption of the same book, which is essentially a porn book. It's clearly for right's reasons. But still... something tells me the X rated film industry is going to do a better, closer adaption of the book.

And then there's the underlying, where the heck are the Twilight lawyers on Fifty Shades of Grey anyway, since the book is just THAT kind of fan fiction of Twilight with name changes.

This movie is such an uber-dud, it even makes Ishtar (one of the most notorious financial box-office flops) look good and enjoyable....

I just decided to coin a new slang term for it: "limburger", because it's so cheesy, and it stinks so far into outer space, that Martians would get sick from the nauseating fumes.....

And they're suing a legitimate porn production company that's making a, let's just say, more faithful adaption of the book.

After all, it is fan fiction, and we all know what a good half of them are and why Archie comics goes after people who do Archie fan fics.
