Could we stop embedding Youtube videos in threads?

Muppet Central has always loaded quickly for me no matter what the thread or my internet connection speed. Could it be that you are viewing the forum from a cellphone?
Agreed. I've never had a problem with it, even in the Jerry N thread where there were loads of pictures and videos...but then I may have a faster broadband speed than others.

Well then, how? Because I have been trying and trying and no matter what I do it turns into a video
Ahhhh...I see your issue....
**Make sure to fill in the PAGE url and not the LINK url.***

Therein lies the problem though: with YouTube, the page URL and the link URL are one and the same.

The URLs are different. For example. :search:

This is hard to post so bear with me. I added some spaces to the code so it wouldn't embed.

The PAGE URL for the Fraggle video is: http: //www. youtube.com/watch?v=mEyrfFwf3rI&feature=colike
This will link to the page.

The LINK URL for the Fraggle video is: http: //youtu.be/mEyrfFwf3rI
This will embed the video.

Ah, but as you can see, your example resulted in the video being embedded in your post twice.

It didn't do that yesterday. That's why I said bear with me because it can be tricky.

Embedding works and you do have the option to list a URL link to any page if that's what a user prefers. For example...here's the Fraggle Video Behind the Scenes.
You just have to make sure it's the correct page URL:
http: //www. youtube. com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_320325&feature=iv&src_vid=mEyrfFwf3rI&v=cY5u5nc0UhI
and not: http: // www. youtube.com/ watch?v=mEyrfFwf3rI&feature=colike

It's tricky I guess, but it can be done.

So then where do you find this URL? Because copying the URL address doesn't work

Here's a little experiment:

We know that the [share] button URL embeds no matter what.

I went directly to YouTube and searched for "Ben Folds Fraggle Video" by typing in the search field. I then clicked on the Nerdist link we've all seen and copy/pasted the URL from the browser. This resulted in creating this text link.

The problem seems to come from using the URL if you've navigated to the page in any other way than the search field.

Forgive me for sounding like a n00b, but what is this "Nerdist link" of which you speak?
