I remember watching American Bandstand reruns with my mom when I was pretty young, that's how I learned who Dick Clark was. I was grateful for the introduction at a young age and I have great respect for him. This news of his passing saddens me, deeply.

I've watched Dick Clark on New Years Eve as long as I can remember...it will be hard watching it now. Even though he had cutback his time on the show and left the hosting duties to Ryan Seacrest, we always looked forward to seeing Dick as midnight got closer. Even through his stroke he always seemed joyful and excited to be there. He will be missed and new years will never be the same.

Share your favorite Dick Clark memories and videos below as we say goodbye to a legend...

Dick Clark presents Kermit the Frog with the Amphibian American Music Achievement Award in July 1984.
Fantastic picture Phillip, thank you.
Phillip said:
Clark is best known for hosting long-running television shows such as "American Bandstand," the game show "Pyramid" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."
We loved him on all these shows, but actually probably no more than when he and Ed McMahon co-hosted the TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes hidden-video show, lol. Good stuff.

Though he is at peace now, perhaps reunited with his loved ones, the man is and will always be missed here among the earthbound.

I always liked Dick hosting the (fill in the dollar amount) Pyramid, and on Bandstand when they featured a very early Pink Floyd, and Dick doing his utmost to coax a word out of a very stoned Syd Barrett.

The New Year ball drop wouldn't be the same without Dick.
I watch the Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve ball drop and it made me smile.
He was an inspiring legend of our time.

Now, I'm not trying to be mean, but you know how they say the world ends in 2012? Is this a coincidence? There wont be a new year without Dick Clark.

That's true that there won't be a New Year without Dick but the New Year's Rockin Eve thing will still happen. I'm sure that the world will go on through 2013. I don't believe in Mayan stuff.
I believe that the crew will retitle this to Ryan Seacrest's New Year's Rockin Eve, since Ryan hosted every show since 2005.
Yes, they will still have the ball drop. It's a Times Square tradition. Everyone will be upset if this didn't happen on January 1, 2013. Besides, who made up this 2012 theory anyway? Everything's going to be alright. I'm sure the 2012 theory is fake.
I didn't want to offense any people about what I said.
It's my opinion, and it may be soon a fact.

I don't believe in the stuff either, but I thought it was a coincidence.

Eh, the guy who started the Mayan 2012 thing admitted he made a mistake...it's really 2024 or thereabouts!

RIP Dick Clark. I wasn't a diehard fan but the man was an institution.
