Look, I don't want to get into a political argument with you. I just want you to stop bringing politics where they don't belong.
Fine, I'll just go back to the real maturity of this thread and whine about television shows that I'm not going to watch because they come out of the television and physically beat the crap out of me and kill my family. You know... smart talk.

I hate SuperWhy because the characters literally leap out on screen and kick me in the crotch.

I hate Barney the Dinosaur because he killed my father.

One of the Judges on American Idol stole my money.

(I wish this wasn't a family site... I wanna say that the show Whitney did something to someone and forced me to watch...)

Politics or not, complaining about how a show is insanely stupid like it physically hurts you and that every time a show does not meet your approval is the fifth freaking horse of the Apocalypse when things are literally out there hurting people is the biggest joke there is. Really, I've literally been on the other side of this argument, and while I still hate the people on other sites that did this to me, I begrudgingly say, they have a POINT!

Oh, and by the way, if that's how we measure the intelligence of the country, how come we're not saying we're complete geniuses because we canceled the remake of Charlies Angels, perhaps the worst show in the history of the world, even when it was on in the 70's? Seriously... the show was super soft core porn and we all know it. Why else were they constantly shackled up? Bondage. Bam.

No offense but we don't have to read things we don't agree with. We can just ignore them. It's not necessary to tell someone to stop posting.

Indeed.

All I'm saying is that we have to STOP acting like some stupid show no one's actually watching is actually harming the country when there's just so much harm being done everywhere else.

Bi-partisanly, when we can't even make movies where the villain is a corrupt, amoral, greedy rich guy without it being called some Communist brainwashing tool, you KNOW there's something completely rotten with the apple.

Sure, there's a lot of crappy stupid stuff on the opposite part of the aisle, the completely idiotic reaction to the media induced obesity hype-odemic... hiding junk food like it doesn't exist, not advertising things during kid's programming...

All those times I complain about Saturday Mornings and the FCC... who do I pin on that" The Democrats for edging some idiotic do goodery in a media deregulation bill. Seriously, let GE and Rupert Murdock buy up all the dang networks they want. At LEAST put something on good from 8-12 on Saturdays.

You're right, there are certainly worse things than Reality tripe. At the same time the dumbing down of the Arts in this country is something that bothers me deeply.

I swear, there's going to come a time when studios get sick of this bad press and start making movies to placate corporate news hacks. Like a Bizzarro-world PC, making sure that those who offend don't get offended.

There IS a problem with music, but that's been going on a deep and steady decline since the 90's. There was a period when they made the exact Hip Hop dance music over and over and over again with the SAME words... all machine made, conveyor belt garbage that they just play at clubs to create some sort of false sense of atmosphere. Music shouldn't be like that. Of course, much as I hate Beiber and Hanna Montana style stuff, I'd much rather kids listen to that than listen to rap music that is very obviously corporately made and promotes violence towards women and how great it is to be one of those guys that sells women's bodies for money.

The worst part of our culture is when we started celebrating "Pimpin'" with NO knowledge of what Pimps really do. "Oh, they wear fancy clothes and get drunk and have money for some reason."

But as a culture, we're pushing away from that. We realized how dangerous that mindset was, and we're moving past it. So things usually tend to cycle. Things just need to get really bad before they get better... often times that's relatively.

I understand that. I just feel like politics should be kept in threads where that is already the discussion. This isn't one of those threads. I feel like this forum would be a much more enjoyable place if we didn't politicize threads that had nothing to do with politics.

I enjoy what DrTooth has to say here. You don't and that's fine. That's why we can ignore. That's all I'm saying.

I don't mind DrTooth posting here as long as it has to do with the topic at hand which is the dumbing down of America through reality shows. If DrTooth wants to make a thread about politics in the general discussion forum, that's okay with me because it's a new discussion. It's not a point about whether I agree or not. It's about bringing politics into non-political discussions.

Well I won't get into a back and forth on this, that's definitely off topic, hehe. I'll just say I don't think it was that off topic and again, if it bothers me, I move on. End of story.
