Is anybody else just sick of Ice Age?

I'm a Furry and I have no interest in Alpha and Omega. And I should point out not all furries are in it for the R rated sex stuff. I avoid that stuff like the plague. I'm just in it because I like cartoons and movies involving talking dogs, drawing dogs and creating a nonhuman alter ego.

I don't know if that even makes a "furry." The best cartoon characters ARE animals, IMO... but that doesn't make me one... I LOVE the Looney Tunes, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and just about any animated duck imaginable... I thought Furry was just the sexual aspect of it.


But to tie this into the main subject... Lionsgate had NOOOOOO business making CGI kid's films. Happily Ne'Er After was garbage, and they made a second for no reason. These noob studios are almost as bad as the off brand Brazilian Ratatoing places. I did love MGM's morbid Igor movie (the ending was too saccharine though) other than that, we have quite enough CGI kid movies, thank you.

There's no strict definition on what does and doesn't make a furry. It's really one of those "ask ten people get ten different answers" sort of things. Generally though, if you like anthropomorphic animals and want to consider yourself a furry then you are one. A lot of people refuse to accept the label due to the bad reputation the fandom has though. I used to be like that myself, but I finally gave in. To be fair though, a lot of people in the fandom are trying to improve it's reputation. The problem lies in the fact that the fandom has a lot of whackjobs that are too stupid to grasp that no one wants to hear about their fetishes. But it is very possible to be a furry and shun the more unsavory aspects of the fandom. I'm living proof.

I've never heard of Happily Ne'Er after. That thing must have flopped and flopped hard. Did that even get a wide release?

To me, that is not a furry. That would be like calling Walt Disney and Marc Brown furries. Heck, by that logic, 99% of the world are furries.Its like if you ever even remotly liked a show with animal characters you are a furry, and all kids growing up in the 90s that watched Rocko and CatDog are furries. I do not consider myself a furry even though all draw is anthro animals, I have a fursona and a pokesona.

Its because of those people who like X rated furry porn and are turned on by it that give everyone who has ever liked an anthro character a bad name.

EDIT: I want to add I use the term fursona loosely. Originally I made it to appease my friend, who wanted me to draw one with her. I was just bored when I drew the pokesona. Since I can't draw people worth a crap, I just stuck with this "fursona" I made to incorporate myself into my drawings.

I agree with that. I don't get Furry porn ( actually I don't get ANY porn. I'm asexual ) and a lot of the people who are into it are quite vocal about it. They're too stupid to keep their wierd fetishes to themselves and as a result tend to drag anyone who is into anthropomorphic animals down into the mud with them.
But as I've said, there's no solid rule on what is and isn't a furry. The only thing everyone can agree on is that it centers around anthropomorphic animals. After that it kind of falls apart somewhat. You have people who are into it for the art, people who are into it for the porn, people who believe they were an animal in another life, and so on. And then you have people like me who would generally be happier if they were something other than human. I know that sounds strange, but I identify with dogs much more strongly than I do humans. Given a choice I'd rather be an anthropomorphic dog than a person. I don't believe in all the mystical bullcrap that other furries/therians/otherkin who feel this way do. It's purely a psychological thing and I know it. I think that more than anything else qualifies me. But even if it really doesn't it's just a label anyway. I am what I am whether you call it furry or not.

I'd be lying if I said I would give up the chance to be part animal or all animal. Honestly, I think it would be awesome to be an anthro komodo dragon. But thats no different than saying it would be awesome to be a wizard or elf or troll or something, at yet it seems like these days that's a crime. Its like, just because you are a moron means that I can't have fantasies of being something I'm not? I honestly don't understand why it seems that people who consider themselves furries (minus the creepy fetish people) attract such seething hatred.

But you know, its like punk. No one can agree on what it is. My idea of what real punk is stems from its real origins as the "I'm doing this my way so screw you!" attitude of the first punk bands. What I consider to be punk music is completely different from the next person. Not to mention the heated flame wars of people who claim to be fans of "real punk." If you ever venture onto the music video of Punk Rock 101 by Bowling for Soup, the comments are funny. The song is making fun of the same people insulting it. But I'm digressing.

This. This so VERY much. I can't figure it out either. The only explaination I can come up with is that the creepy fetish people are so loud that they overshadow everyone else in the fandom. But then some genuinely hate the idea that some people would enjoy being something other than human too so they hate furries for that as well. I don't know.

Im sure you can be a "fur" without the creepy fetishistic aspect. Ive met folks at anime and nerd cons who seemed to be into the more innocent aspect of anthropomorphism. For some reason anthro goth dogs seem to be the most popular on Deviant Art and Fur Affinity.

I like some anthro stuff, like 90's Nickelodeon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Anyways, everyone needs a healthy positive creative outlet even if other people think it strange

I REALLY hope the second movie keeps them in the Smurf Village. Otherwise, you wind up with The Hangover 2... the absurdity of trying to copy the same movie again with a bigger budget and failing at it. I still didn't like them having to go into New York, and I think the movie coulda done just as well if they kept everyone in the Middle Ages. Hank Azaria's Gargamel is the only reason I enjoyed that film.

Still, where the heck is an American DVD copy of Smurfs and the Magic Flute? That's what the Smurfs were REALLY about.

I happen to like Anthros, humans, humanoids, robots, aliens... basically anything that can be turned into a cartoon... though I'm terrible at drawing robots... well, Mechs anyway... I have characters for everything, and I love characters of anything... but I think everyone likes some anthro characters... Looney Tunes, Disney... There are those who do have some... well... interresting tastes for Gadget of Rescue Rangers, The Catillac Cats, and especially Sonic the Hedgehog. I still say Furries have seized that Franchise because Eggman/Robotnik never gets any love outside the internet meme.
