17 Things Kermit has done that are worse than living in a mansion.

This is mostly a pointless article... what's wrong with him riding in a Studebaker? Becoming a star on Broadway? Being Smollett in a film role? There's nothing wrong with him living in a rundown mansion where he's most likely having trouble keeping up on the maintenance, as evidence to the tool box he's holding in the trailer. The magic starts to die when we start dictating minor and mundane details. Let me know when Kermit starts doing illegal activity, THEN articles like this will have a reason for existing.
Perfectly agreed. The Henson biographical film that had as much truth as a poorly maintained wikipedia article (which was the source, actually) had some very dark moments and complete inconsistencies that are out of character (Piggy with Link? Piggy would violently swing at Link if he even suggested it under his breath).

I'd like to add Kermit's "porn is fine" comment over basically ANYTHING nyone can complain about in this movie. Maybe even over the Gonzo Nipple bit in Oz... at least stooping to fart jokes is something Fozzie would do. Kermit looking at Playpig magazine? That's a likely Robot Chicken skit.

I really think the point of this movie is lost when people don't have a sense of suspending disbelief. It's clearly about Kermit getting spoiled and happy by the success he had while others took their careers in a different direction. Kermit living in a mansion is pretty much in continuity with the first movie where he dreams of leaving the swamp to be successful. I don't see how that's out of character at all, especially if the movie's about how he feels he lost himself and lost touch with those who helped him and were helped by him to become movie stars in the first film. I hate when people niggle over details like that.

Now that I think about it, I was thinking of an ideal Looney Tunes movie idea a few years back, and the whole point of the film was Bugs being the only one who managed his money wisely and still gets large residual checks, the other toons moved on and were kinda happy not being in the spotlight, and Daffy Duck's in a run down apartment delusional thinking he's still their biggest star like an out of shape athlete that only played with a team for a year and still thinking he was a champion.

While I agree with the previous posts, I do think that the Muppets are above resorting to pornography.

If they do THAT, then THAT would be the time to throw temper tantrums and hissy fits. The Muppets are not for porn.

The subtle bits of "toilet humor" that the Muppets have done in their productions over the years (the fart shoes, the Muppet Meeting Film "Let's Have the Dam Break", all the bits mentioned in that wonderfully-written Muppet Mindset article, etc.), while they do have a slight tendency to cause SOME slight discomfort, are at least done right and in ways that are clever and don't go too far.

We forgot now?

Remember back when VMX was made there was an interview with Kermit somewhere (I forget exactly where... I'm a big picture, not details rememberer) and they asked him about why Snoop Dogg was cut from the movie, and the discussion took Kermit to nervously say "porn is fine" about it?

I think even that was taken out of context. It really sounds like he's just dismissing Snoop's choices for the sake of the interview more than actually saying porn is perfectly acceptable. He was cut from VMMXM, after all.

I'm taking that as a gaffe. Steve probably wasn't prepared for that question, kidding around late night... Porn is fine is fine.

The biggest offense is mild. Kermit's what you make of him... as long as he doesn't do anything really nasty, I don't mind.

Whitmire is usually quick on his flippers... I mean feet. *dun dun TSSH!* It sounds to me like he was just defending Snoop Dog, not condoning pornography.

Yeah... it's really nothing personal, because, porn's fine, you know, but it's not what we do in a Muppet movie, and...
Nothing wrong with that, I don't think. I don't know if you remember this interview with Jim Henson as Kermit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmSHdMoKvNg

"You don't ask a frog questions like that! Do you ask Captain Kangroo how's his sex life?"

Henson touches on sexuality here as well. Late Night Television allows the Muppets to be a little raunchier. And Kevin Clash as Clifford, during Mr. Henson's last interview, was pretty NAWTY.

When I heard about the Fart Shoes Incident, the first thing I thought was, well, wasn't there that line in "Muppets Take Manhattan," where Rowlf says "Why does everybody always blame dogs?" Surely, an actual fart joke is worse than a whoopie cushion joke?
The difference is the Rowlf joke humorously implies something. The joke in this new movie just throws a cheap laugh at you.

"I hate a dirty joke I do, unless it's told by someone who knows how to tell it." --Groucho Marx

In the case of this new movie, someone did not know how to tell it.

No I'm not saying the whole movie will automatically be bad, just critiquing a line.

I still think you're completely wrong, Heralde.

I really think you should consider withholding your opinions on this one until you actually see the movie. By then, the joke will be in proper context. :wisdom:
