Has Baskin-Robbins Gone Bankrupt?

Seems like they're closing right and left lately, so the only conclusion I can draw is that they're, like everyone else, going bankrupt and shutting down business.

Though ironically, after all these years, Goody's is making a comeback... I had no idea a business could come back after bankruptcy.

If I do see a Baskin-Robbins it's usually in the same building as a Dunkin Donuts, I guess they had a merger at some point?

What exactly is Goody's? Lol, sorry I guess it's a regional thing.

I assume they split, because there's only one other Dunkin Donuts all the way on the other side of town, but there (used to be) at least three or four other BRs.

It was a department/clothing store... many summers I dreaded going there, because it meant back-to-school clothes shopping with my mom and nana.

It's confusing. I often see Dunkin Donuts by itself. But like I said, I never see a Baskin-Robbins without a Dunkin Donuts, lol.

Ohhhh ok, cool. Actually I was just getting ready to write a Blog entry on old TV commercials about regional deparement stores, lol.

Everyone is. I'm not going to repeat myself with the whole "You should have saved that generous Tax money for a rainy day" or "these neighborhoods are pricing everyone out of the business" (especially since I don't know any situations of your specific town, but it's something that happened here a LOT)... or any of that. I notice ALL these stores, even financially solvent ones just bailing, leaving ugly, unsellable blights on the community that no one can afford. The rents are getting WAAAAY to high. Gentrification ruins neighborhoods and kills small business... all that stuff I usually say.

What really gets my goat is when NO ONE comes in and builds it back up and makes it something new. Like, when you go to a mall that has a LARGE blockade in front of where a store used to be that says, "MOAR choices!" and nothing goes up there for months, and usually it's just a pop up express store that stays open until after Christmas. Then it becomes "Bright shiny options" for 9 more months

As for Baskin Robbins... we have about 3 in the Boston Area (maybe more... I never bother) and they're all married to Dunkin Donuts. Now, we're the area where DD originated, and there's one at least every several city blocks... one or two in each town or sub-city. You cannot punt a football and NOT hit one. And that's not including the even more local HoneyDew... a little harder to find... but those 2 places sew the town up. And that's not even counting local bakeries. We USED to have Krispy Kreme for a year, and then DD and HD were too powerful competition for them and they closed down a little too fast. That said, back to Baskin... all 3 of them are married to DD locations. There's actually a really big one somewhere, either near a football stadium or casino... I forget which.

I want the 2 to completely merge into one and give us donut sundaes. Why the heck can't we have donut sundaes? We have brownies, cookies, cake even... how come no genius ever thought to stick a donut in there?
