Rufus, the loveable shaggy white sheep dog, after his claim to fame from the few early specials, vanished, and then a similar character, Sprocket, popped up? I think the idea of a silent, loveable dog type person as a 'sidekick' to a guy who fixed things was a big hint that Sprocket is the new Rufus.

Huh..that is really interesting...and ya know, when ya think about it, Rufus actually looks somewhat like Sprocket did in the first episode the Fraggle team ever did. Was Rufus a sidekick to anyone who repaired in a special? I didn't see many of the 1960s specials.
