Hello all,

A few years back, I picked up this Ernie toy at a flea market...

... but I have no idea what company made him, what the name of the toy line was, or even whether they produced any additional characters.

I would love to find out that there's a Bert companion piece for me to track down.

Can anyone help?

I am just having a stab in the dark, but to me,it looks like a fast food premium, going by the size and that he has a button on his chest to do something.:wisdom:

I must have large hands... he's actually 5 and a half inches tall. Too big for a restaurant premium.

Here's another pic with some Palisades Muppet Show figures for reference.

You're correct about the button on the chest, I'm assuming he could talk. There's a battery compartment on his back, and six little holes forming a speaker. I opened him up and put new batteries in him, but he still didn't work.

Hmmm... Now that I look at his back again, that also puts the kibosh on the premium theory. All of his screws, both those for the battery compartment and those holding him together, are regular Phillips-head screws, not those triangular-headed screws they use for fast-food toys.

I was thinking maybe he was a preschool toy or something.

Oh, and he also came with some hollow rubber accessories... a Rubber Duckie sitting atop some blocks, and a little toy train.

Trust me on this... don't try to track down Bert. There IS NO Bert. if memory suits me, this was part of a three figure series by Tyco. Something to the extent of "My First Action Figure" or something to that extent. There was also an Elmo and a Big Bird. I saw these years ago at KB and never picked them up.

Drtooth is correct... I remember these quite well, myself, and he's right, there was only Ernie, Elmo and Big Bird made.

Okay, thanks for the info, guys. I'm still not finding any pics of them online, so if someone can point me to any, that would be cool.

Oh well, if there's no Bert, I'll just go back to posing those B&E bendems with the Palisades stuff. They're slightly smaller than this Ernie, but at least it's got both characters.

Thanks!

1980 Cookie Monster by K.T.C.?

Fresh from eBay to my collection, another Sesame Street figure whose origin is a mystery to me:

I actually bid on this Cookie Monster on a lark, thinking it would be way too small alongside my Palisades Muppet Show toys, but when it arrived it was actually slightly too large.

On the soles of his feet can be found the following info:

Right foot: "26440060A, COOKIE MONSTER, (C)1980 Muppets Inc."

Left foot: "26440060A, K. T. C., Made in H K H_17"

Anyone recognize a toy manufacturer called K.T.C.?

I would love to find other Sesame characters that they did!
