"The Blues Brothers" is awesome, probably because that's the first SNL sketch they spun off. "Superstar"(!) too. The others I haven't seen more than 5 minutes of.

I have to disagree. The SNL flicks maybe didnt sell well in the box office, but they're DEF movies that will stick with you forever. THis new one? Eh. But those listed above, and don't forver Night at the Roxbury. DEF great movies that one enjoys going back to see time n time again. If you don't care for the stories, you'll prob agree that they're great for one liners.

"and i was like... EMILIO!"
I forgot that one. That has a huge following, but it's not my kinda thing. I'm strictly an old school- death of Phil Hartman era SNL fan. There's some newer stuff here and there I enjoy... I mean, NO body hates celebrity Jeopardy (that needs to be a movie).

But I think Blues Brothers is an experience, not just a movie. Sequeling it was a bad idea... but they took a SNL skit and didn't just make it a movie, they made it into something much bigger.

Wayne's World I really enjoy too. I think I saw like several minutes of It's Pat, and was bored to pieces.

90 minutes of Sean Connery and double entendres. . . YES PLEASE. I agree, they took the characters and actually developed a plot, it's not just like one long sketch. (plus, I live in Chicago and have male relatives, it's practically required viewing.)

The Blues Brothers works because not only does it have good music, but it also has a lot of dry deadpan humor that's funny.

A Night at the Roxbury is particularly funny because of the stupidity of Katan's and Ferrell's characters. Plus it has this 90's club vibe going for it with the music that is in the movie.

On the Michael Bay thing, I can't stand the guy either. The only movie I enjoyed from him is The Rock. All of his movies are the same mindless stupidity goo that keeps going and going.

Okay, I know this isn't the "Whine About Remakes of Movies From Your Childhood" thread, but:

Live action Kiki's Delivery Service. Nooo! :grouchy: (seemingly in development h*ll though.)

America should NEVER attempt a live action anime movie again. I liked Speed Racer, but I vow on a stack of manga never to see that generic Kung Fu movie mess they slapped the name Dragon Ball on EVER. You know you're in trouble when an unauthorized Hong Kong movie is more accurate to the cartoon (they sure got Roshi right in that one, unlike the US version). Heck, Japan rarely gets live action versions of Anime right, and they're THEIR cartoons. Yatterman was a huge success though... but a LOT of them are hit or miss. I really think Cutey Honey was treated completely wrong (it had its moments)... I didn't like how Moe they made her, and how she had to stuff mochi down her throat every 2 scenes. I saw a Lupin III live action film on DVD, and it looks like a fun to make fun of thing (didn't buy it though).

But America has a spotty enough track record with it's own live action cartoon movies (Need I even bother mentioning Underdog?), why ruin someone else's.
