I'd tend to disagree. There's (unfortunately) no shortage of ideas when it comes to this non-union sweatshop entertainment. And with the rising cost of actually having to put forth an effort and paying union actors and union writers, it's easy to make more trash.
It doesn't matter how bad a reality TV show flops, it's so cheap, it's guaranteed several season. The only way to stop these from being made is for everyone to stop watching them. And people love to watch them ironically, and they love the trashiness of it all. So unfortunately, we're stuck with it.
