Hello puppet experts!

Can you help me? I'm trying to find a place where I can buy/rent/or custom order professional puppets.

More specifically, I'm looking for very high quality puppets of goblins, faeries, beats, etc., on the level of Labyrinth's Huggle, Ludo, or the creatures from the Dark Crystal. Note: I'm not looking for replicas of these characters, but rather original puppets.

I've searched the web, but all I can find are puppets more in the style of the muppet show.

Thank you! :scary:

Only thing off the top of my head like that is probly Scott Radke's stuff. http://www.scottradke.com/
Might be expensive and time consuming if you want multiple puppets and especially custom made, but yeah, give him an email and ask about maybe renting or somethin if you like his stuff.

Hey, thanks a lot! His work is really cool! I just might contact him. Let me know if you think of anyone else.

Also, I'd be just as happy with dolls. They don't have to be puppets.

etc etc etc (the last one is for costumes but they have puppets also and besides, all of the masks / costumes can be addapted rather easily into puppets or worn as a puppet suit)

Things to search in google for are "fantasy puppets, gothic puppets, dark puppets, scary puppets" etc etc.

Hope you find what you are looking for . . . .

Peace

I have to agree with the suggest of http://puppetsbycher.homestead.com/

This type of work is right up her alley.

Yea, I liked those puppets also. They are have a very "labyrinth-esque" feel to them. There are HEAPS more out there if one is to search within the parameters I suggested.

There is also a guy in Texas that does some awesome "dark crystal / labyrinth" type work in latex But I have lost the URL and Im still trying to find it. . . .

I will post it up in here when I can find it. :scary:

You've gotten a good passle of answers already, but I always start by asking the two following questions:

1) What's your application? Live? Video? Film?

2) What's your budget?

I have found them to be the most important questions to ask right off the bat.

Many puppet makers specialize. For example, when I make puppets, I tend to make them for video, since that is my main application in what I do. Some puppet makers are geared towards making them for live shows, where they'll need to survive heavy and continuous use... so construction techniques and materials will differ.

And budget is of concern to anyone when they're asked to make something custom. 'Nuff said.
