Just as i was exciting Safeway, i was stopped in my tracks by a very exciting sight - in the Claw Game Machine, there were a couple of Gobo Fraggle plushes among the various prizes. And...a really good likeness unlike most of the plush photos we've tended to see where the moment you lay eyes on them you make a mental note to submit it for consideration in the next TP Ugly Toys Contest.

So if you're a fan of Fraggle merchandise but don't want to pay absurd Dr.Doozer prices or can't bear the sight of poor quality scarefests, keep your eyes on the Claw games in your local restaurants, stores, and fairs.

Sorry, don't know who the manufacturer is - tried to get a look at the tag but it was obscured via the angle/other toys surrounding it. Will see if i can manage to find out later.

I have always hated the idea of toys you can only win. Mainly because I've rarely won one of those darn things. There was this one day I was on a hot streak and won 2... I thought that was very amazing, since I was only able to win one more in my life time.

Sometimes I look at the things and wish I could just smash the glass open and take it and run as fast as possible. I saw a Megaman plush in a crane machine a few months back... seriously. An American Megaman plush. A character who has virtually no merchandise in the states, and as a popular video game doesn't quite have the popularity Mario or Sonic have. I would have killed for a Megaman plush back when I was 9.

Y'know what I saw in a claw machine once? An honest-to-goodness plush Barkley. He was about a foot and a half long and made with fake fur...looked just like him. This was back in 1997-98 or so. I wanted that Barkley so bad at the time, I wasted about $10 at the machine, but the flimsy claw wouldn't grab a thing. They're probably rigged not to grab stuff, but I had to give it a try. How often do you run across a third tier character in plush, anyway? (Besides the Sesame Street Beans series).

I even called the machine's manufacturer to see where they got it from. All I got was some schmo saying "duhhh...I dunno where we get 'em. You just have to play to win it." Gee, thanks a lot, pal.

As for the Fraggle plushes, is Mokey included? I'd probably pass if I saw the others (unless they were for sale) but I might give the machine one more try if a Mokey were inside. (Razzafrazzin' Sababa company...)

I remember seeing Doozers in a few a few years back! They were pretty good. Sabbaba like. But no Fraggles yet! Someone should take a picture of the Fraggles in the machines, just for those that haven't seen them! Meaning me! :excited:

You CANNOT buy crane machine toys. No matter where you try to check them out, you'll always see "Not for retail sale" slapped on the tag in big bold letters. They deal directly with and only with arcades and carnival opperators. Sure, there was that odd fluke where some Muppets were available at Hot Topic for a while baout 10 years ago... but other than that, you'll be met with a big fat no way Jose. Unless you happen to have a fortune lying around and want to make a deal buying boxes and boxes of them.

I highly stress Razzafrazzin retailers since Sababa was more than happy to make Mokey and Uncle Matt... problem was, where would they sell them if no one wanted to sell them in their stores? If they did online sales, you can bet they'd be mundo expensive to cover the costs.
