Should there be more 40th anniversary DVD ?

I mean this is Sesame Street we're talking about,the place were you can see celebrities far and wide.

I mean should there be a special 40th anniversary DVD focusing only on the celebrity shorts on the show ?

Should there be a 40th anniversary DVD showing the "All-stars" of Sesame Street, meaning showing the Best of our favorite modern day cast ?

Should there be a 40th anniversary DvD focusing on the Traveling arcs on the show during the 80s and early 90s ?

I mean it's kind of sad that us, SS fans, are getting just a 2 disc DVD focusing on the Show's famous shorts.

So my question is shouldn't we be getting more ?

Why complain? Look at all we're getting/got for Sesame Street's 40th:

• A wonderful coffee table book that will blow Unpaved away in quality
• A brilliant and comprehensive book on the trials and tribulations and bright spots of the show's history
• A wonderful 2-disc DVD collection that has nearly everything the fans have been asking to see
• An amazing evening in New Jersey that was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of us
• Wonderful toys

We have so much to look forward to, why complain about not getting more?

Why complain? Look at all we're getting/got for Sesame Street's 40th:

• A wonderful 2-disc DVD collection that has nearly everything the fans have been asking to see

While that is all true and all and yes besides the NJ event, the books and the 2 disc DVD set are worth it.

However you would think with all they've done with over the previous anniversary seasons You would kind of expected more ...

Ay... the biggest problem with the anniversary is that it's hitting when SW is having financial difficulties. The toy merchandise is sparse and not too impressive (not to mention frighteningly expensive), they can't afford to have any actual TV specials (and PBS would sooner run Wayne Dyer's ugly bald head or 1950's musicians trying to get gramps to give them his social security check than a show that put the network on the map and stayed with them for 40 years.... thanks PBS), and we're just getting a DVD set of old footage... not even a DTV special like "What's the name of that Song?" I'm sure SW would have done much, much more if they had the money to do it.

I can't say it's bad, but hardly the greast stuff we've had in recent celebrations... the massive obscure character driven Sesame Beans collection, the chess set, Gund's plush with even MORE obscure characters....even the promise of action figures that we never got from any company (I swear the license was cursed) was great. But the way things are, we just aren't getting that. Personally, I wanted a second Pez collection with Grover, the Count, Oscar and Abby....

And I still think they should make a SS Old School vol 3 next year.

You know what the sad thing is, I still can recall the 35th anniversary special, and to me it wasn't even a special as the show was mentioned barely within the episode and was more about a promo to that year season.

You think with all the star power the show generated over the years, that maybe it's time to call in some favors ?

Has it been confirmed by anybody from Sesame Workshop that there won't be a TV special? And I am okay with the DVD release being all old footage. That's what I've been hoping for for awhile.

I agree that it would be great if there were a series of individual DVDs for the anniversary. There's bound to be stuff we're all wishing for that aren't going to be on the set (regardless of whether they can be viewed at sesamestreet.org).

Here is a list of ideas that could be done:

• First Appearances
• Celebrity Appearances
• An All-Star Collection
• An Old School Supporting Characters Collection
• A Collection of sketches starrignt he most obscure recurring characters ever
• Complete Sketch Collections(Monsterpiece Theater, Sesame Street News, Super Grover, etc.)
• Films and Animation
• A Rubber Duckie Collection (featuring all versions of Rubber Duckie from the show, plus all other Rubber Duckie songs and sketches involving Rubber Duckie)
• Individual character collections, either as "best of" releases with no linking footage or maybe "complete, chronological" collections similar to the Walt Disney Treasures.

But I'm satysfied with the upcoming release so far. But I'd like for it to start a trend of official DVD releases with just inserts (and maybe also lead to more DVD releases of full episodes, like the Old School and TV Fun Packs releases, though more emphasis on the first 30 seasons).

I can't believe you guys. We complain since the advent of DVD to get classic Sesame Street material and Sesame Workshop gives us exactly what we want, we just keep complaining about how it isn't enough or how we want to change it. A two-disc set aimed at adult and nostalgic collectors as never been done before. We're getting SIX hours of inserts plus bonus features... compare that to the thirty minute videos we've gotten before. I think Sesame Workshop is putting in good effort with these products and I'm standing by the "less is more" approach. With season 4 of Fraggle Rock and Letters to Santa coming out with this stuff, do you really want to spend more money?
