They SOMETIMES advertise these DVD sequels...

... when they "threaten" to get rid of them with "hurry and add this great 'Disney DVD' to your collection before it goes back into the vault, never to be seen again!"

The difference between Disney's sequels and Pixar's sequels is that Pixar spends the time and money to make a good production; a decent story-line, they get back the original cast, they advertise, and eventually release these movies into theaters..
Well... we only have one film to go on, since Pixar has only done 1 sequal in the 10+ years they've been releasing movies. I have faith that TS3 will be pure gold. Cars 2... well... it could be fun.

And Disney DID want TS2 to be a DTV project... Pixar convinced them that it wouldn't be a big enough film to be some throw-a-way product like the DTV's were to be. In fact, TS3 (initially, when Disney was threatening to do it with their own in house) was gonna be DTV.

The only sequal I actually WISH they made was Hercules 2. Which, ironically, was to be based on the original concept of the movie, Hercules getting caught up in one of Greece's wars (Can't remember if it was the Trojan one or not). Instead, we got 3 episodes of the TV show crushed together.

I also forgot about Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. Even though it still has some problems, it is a lot better than the original theatrical version directed by Richard Lester. It better ties together with the prequel, is much less goofy, and corrects a HUGE plot hole later on.
Is that version still available on DVD? I keep hearing it was only available in a box set, and I didn't want to pick it up.

I hated Superman 3, by the way... what was the deal with that computer turning that woman into a robot?

I adored the Disney Sequels to no end until they found an end with john lasseter when the creep came to disney.
I don't understand what's creepy about his. He saved Disney animation.

Also when is the Henson Co gonna get off their daft butts and release Dark Crystal 2 and Fraggle Rock Movie... probally never I mean FR was suppose to come out this year when is it pushed back till 2929.
Sometimes these things time. Making a movie does not happen over night.

Take the Austin Powers trilogy, in my opinion, each one was better than the one before it, and I believe that Goldmember was the best of all three of them.
I have to disagree. I used two like two the best, but I like all of them, but I have to say that the original one is the best in my opinion.

At the same time, sometimes movies tend to have sequels that are on a bit of an even plane with their originals... like both the Toy Story; Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was just as good, as was Home Alone 3 (so it had a different cast of characters, at least a lot of the original production team still worked on it, so it had the same vibes and atmosphere).
Also have to disagree. I think Toy Story two was a better movie. I actually think Home alone 2 was better and I have seen both films.

They're making a Monsters Inc. sequel? Where did you hear that?
It's been in the news for a while now, I forget when it's slated to be released though, but it's all over the internet, and I've even read about it in the paper when they did a spread about how Pixar always manages to keep their audience's interests with each new movie they make.

I'm gonna have to say... Scooby Doo 2 was a far better written movie than the first one... if anything the fact they focused more on the plot and less on Brady bunch-esque making fun of the source material. Though, I HATE how Ruben Studdard was shoehorned into the ending of the film.

For that matter, it reminds me of why TMNT 2: Secret of the Ooze hardly was as good as the first one... Vanilla Ice. Movies with bad stunt cameos like that tend to age poorly. Plus, TMNT 2 turned into the cartoon series...but that's another thing for another time.

Sequels can be good when they advance a story, (Star Wars, Back to the Future, Planet of the Apes...) BUT, often times sequels are a bad idea. A few examples of movies that didn't need a sequel or multiple sequels but had them anyway:
Police Academy (liked the first 3...didn't need 4 more!)
Revenge of the Nerds (no sequel required)
The Karate Kid (should have quit after the Okinawa trip)
Rocky (after the third, shouyld have skipped over 4 & 5 and gone straight to Rocky Balboa)
Rambo (2 was enough)

Now, movies that should NEVER see a sequel:
E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial
The Goonies
and ALMOST every Disney animated film. I liked the Aladdin series and The Little Mermaid triology, but some films need to be left alone. I remember seeing a featurette on my Dumbo DVD about Dumbo II and thought, "Why?"...but the film hasn't seen the light of day as of yet, thankfully. All in all, some sequels I feel work...and some don't.

I feel the same way about Roger Rabbit, but as I understand it, Robert Zemeckis is trying to get a sequel green-lighted.
