Diego had no character development in the third movie whatsoever; it was more or less like he was just there, along for the ride.

I forgot to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed both The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under.

I also liked both the direct-to-video sequels to The Brave Little Toaster, though the Mars one was really good, I kind of felt the To the Rescue one wasn't as good; ironically, To the Rescue was made before Mars (which makes sense, as the events of To the Rescue happen before Mars), yet Mars was released on video first.

i love the rescuers! one of my absolute favorite movies. i havent seen the 2nd one though.

i love shrek, but i heard that they are working on a fourth movie. i think shrek is being a little over done.

As for Shrek, yeah the fourth one is supposedly a prequel, detailing Shrek's childhood, and how he coped with growing up an ogre.

If I'm not mistake, DreamWorks said they wanted to make what, five or six Shrek movies?

I really deeply think they wanted to do something there, but they didn't have any time for it. After all, they wanted a 90 minute film, and the addition of scenes featuring Diego's problem actually being addressed. And... between you and me... I think the original script had Diego running off to die, and he felt like he was a burden on the group... but that was too dark to be fully realized.

Some of the Disney DTV sequals actually were good. I liked Both Aladdins (though, the third one mainly because of Robin Williams), and I really think An Extremely Goofy Movie was an 80% great film... The 20 percent I deducted from it being a commercial for ESPN and Extreme Sports. But we really got to see Max and Goofy's relationship as his boy grows up and goes to college... all the while Goofy trying to get a romantic interest.

I've said it before. The next Shrek film NEEDS to be about how their three Babies grow up and set out into the world all their own. I'd imagine a plot line where they go so far away, they find the one place that they wouldn't be accepted, and all three of them deal with it in different ways.

I haven't seen An Extremely Goofy Movie, and I've been a little inhibited about seeing it, mainly because like some, I felt A Goofy Movie was fine as is, and didn't need a sequel...

You have a point Drtooth, after all, it looked like Diego might have died in the first moive... but then he reminds us of being a feline, and guess what? Nine lives! Which means he now has eight lives, so if he died in the third one, he'd come back again, and have seven, lol.

Or why not make something like "Diego's many suicides" depicting the many deaths of Diego until he's down to 0, lol I've put to much thought into this haven't I? LOL!

Ah, you know what I mean... when an animal in the wild is too old, weak and a burden on his pack or herd or something they stay in one spot until they die. Sort of like the elephant graveyards and what not. Not calling it a suicide, but the animal equivalent of retirement. Really seemed like that was supposed to be explored, but didn't/

EGM wasn't as good as GM...but it was still pretty good. The one thing I wish they explained in EGM was the obvious fact that it was a show modeled after Goof Troop, but Peg, Pistol and Chainsaw were noticeably absent. I always assumed that in between the Goof Troop series and the Goofy Movie (which I took as the series finale...just set years and years later), Peg and Pete got into a terrible divorce, she wound up getting custody of Pistol and took Chainsaw, and also Pete's Used Cars, forcing Pete to have to work at K-Mart (where Goofy obviously worked).

I felt EGM, minus the fact someone said at the last moment "Let's toss in extreme sports so kids will watch it." was a nice continuation of the characters, who we saw grow up since Goof Troop and the first film...there were definately tender moments between Goofy and Max, both coping with the fact that Max is an adult... and I really feel that's where the movie's heart is.

Technically even EGM got continued if you've seen mickey's twice upon a christmas, I think the continuation of that was also quite good, i'm bringing this up on a similiar note and because MTUAC is a sequel, i think it was good but had hideous 3d characters, 3d isn't great on disney characters. But yeah, I actually think EGM was way better than GM in a long shot, it had more characters at once and setting in my opinion and slightly better plot, in GM you didn't get many shots with max and his friends, in EGM you do, depends whether you like EGM as a movie or just for goofy, which I'd say it might of had a bit less of than GM. EGM should really be titled A MAXy movie, lol.

People gripe about disney sequels however pixar is doing the same darn thing with toystory, cars and monsters inc.

The difference between Disney's sequels and Pixar's sequels is that Pixar spends the time and money to make a good production; a decent story-line, they get back the original cast, they advertise, and eventually release these movies into theaters..

Whereas, Disney just immediately releases their sequels onto DVD, no advertising or even an attempt to continue storylines. (for the most part) For example, I just found out last week while in Walmart that there's a Little Mermaid 3.
It's apparently been out since last year, but I had no idea that it even existed.

I also forgot about Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. Even though it still has some problems, it is a lot better than the original theatrical version directed by Richard Lester. It better ties together with the prequel, is much less goofy, and corrects a HUGE plot hole later on.
