Hey gang. For anyone who was following what I've been up to.... The workshop I did at a local children's museum building puppets with 10 young artists, came to a close this past Saturday, April 4. The sense of accomplishment for all involved was wonderful and it was my first time sharing my passion with a group of eager youngsters. Some class photos have been posted on my website at: http://upinarms.biz/Workshop.html

Enjoy!

Nice images. It looks likethe kids had a real blast working with you and your creations. Thta's one of the best things about being a puppeteer, and it's certainly the one thing I hope I can do for my own audience.

thats really awesome! It kind of seems like the kids were limited to yellow skin with their creations. Which most likely restricted their imagination... unless the course was about making human puppets. But i dunno.. i wasn't there. But they all did a great job! I wish i had some of that training when i was younger lol

I'm sorry but, I love the compliments mixed in with the back-handed insults. In the interest of time, the workshop was "limited" to yellow fabric because we weren't going to buy every fabric under the sun and change sewing machine thread every time someone wanted a different colored puppet. When you have a class with children ranging in age from 8 to 13, sometimes it's easier to make some of those decisions for them. Simplicity is key in these situations. Try it sometime... done within a budget for a non-profit organization AND cover every aspect off building and creating an original puppet in four 2-hour sessions. Every parent and child was ecstatic with the creations they left with. No complaint about restricting their imagination, I assure you.
