From BBC News:

Gervais to star in Sesame Street

16:00 GMT, Thursday, 13 November 2008

Comedian Ricky Gervais has been asked to appear on children's TV show Sesame Street, he has revealed.

Writing on his blog, the 47-year-old said: "I've been asked to do Sesame Street - there are some things you don't turn down."

The star will join the likes of David Beckham, Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro and Alicia Keys who have all made an appearance on the show.

Gervais can currently be seen in cinemas in the film Ghost Town.

The star also revealed on his website that he has asked actors Danny DeVito, Michael Douglas and Al Pacino to appear in his comedy series Extras.

The star told the BBC News website last month that although he had been approached about presenting the Oscars he would be reluctant to do it because of the lack of "freedom" in the role.

There actually going to be a season 41 as Caroll had mentioned that he had a brand new contract through at least season 41. But yeah.

Is there any reason to doubt they'll be anymore seasons?

As long as there's an audience for it's doing its job well there's no reason to doubt it.

It does kind of ruin the surprise in next year's press release... but it's great to know that we have someone of his stature next season... I mean, this guy is behind one of the biggest sitcoms currently in 2 countries. And there is no doubt in my mind that he's a huge muppet fan. After all, didn't the British version of the Office have a lot of Muppet references? I remember Ricky doing an impersonation of certain characters, including Robin...
