Possum Problem

It was after 11 last night when I heard my dog barking like the maniac little "cujo" she is. So I was thinking she had to have an animal cornered up somewhere.

So I turned on the back porch light on, went outside, and low and behold, the dog had a possum cornered. I even heard the snarls coming from the possum trying to defend itself, although it was having a hard time of doing it. So I yelled at my dog to tell her to stop, which she did, grabbed her, took her in the house, and drove the possum from the corner it was in and watched it run away back into the pasture.

I didn't want to see the animal become the latest victim of my dog, which has managed to kill a few possums, a few skunks, a baby raccoon, and a rabbit (I think). Hopefully the possum now has a few more smarts in it not to come up to the house again.

Good thing I got a rabies shot for the dog last year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe possums carry rabies. At any rate, it's still good that your dogs shots are up to date.

Please keep us updated to the health of the possum. Would hate to see it become a doggy snack.

Possum ran away after I drove it out. I'm guessing it's okay, before it becomes the snack of a coyote.

I was guessing possums can carry rabies. Who knows.

We had a raccoon in out basement and in a place not reachable. I wish one of our neighbors dogs would show him a thing of two.
