If any of you watched "The Golden Girls" Estelle played Dorothy's (Bea Athur) wisecracking Italian mother Sophia. And she was like a mother to Blanche (Rue McClanahan) & Rose (Betty White) as well. She'd also been in the movie "Stop!Or My Mom Will Shoot!"
She was a couple of days short of her 85th birthday & she passed away from a combination of dementia & Alzheimers' disease:frown::cry:

Oh no! I knew she wasn't doing well at all, but this is so sad. I loved her as Sophia.

RIP, Estelle. We'll miss you!

She was awesome, I remember watching that show with my mom and grandma when I was little, and then with my roommates in college (obviously in reruns). Great show, great lady, she will be missed.

Golden Girls is my all-time favorite TV show. I feel like I've lost a grandmother. Well, she's with Sal now; rest in peace, Ma.
