The top thing that pop in my head while thinking about the 50s is Disney's Peter Pan,:wink:.

Plus poddie skrits, which I still think is kinda neat, lol

The idea of the '50s innocence is kinda a stereotype. People were still very intelligent and not completely oblivious to hard core issues. It's more that those hard core issues in life were covered up, both in pop culture and in people's private lives. Rather than deal with problems, they were kept hidden.

SAH-REE!

But seriously, we've overlooked the 50s! Pretty much the end of the innocence (dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun...) but look what came out of the 50s...

1. Really HUGE, yet classy cars.
2. The first popular sitcom: I Love Lucy.
3. Another popular sitcom: Leave it To Beaver.
4. The Hula Hoop, along with Alvin, who wanted one for Christmas.
5. MY MOM!

THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD .

I love the 50s so much that was the start for the GREAT ELVIS PRESLEY AND ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVERITE SHOWS I LOVE LUCY .

Yes , i love what u also said about the inocance that was there that we do not have anymore and also the sitcomes from that ara proved that so much .

I know that i also said the Great Elvis Presley well i know that a lot of poeple do not think that he is great , well the reason that i love him so much no he is not perfect but his music has seen me though so much of bad times . The complete gospel collection that is out there that he did WOW that has been the best for me .

His love songs to , they say what is real but they still have a pure feeling with out some of the smut of today , that some love songs have .

Oh my goodness I love that u also said Leave it Beaver oh my i watch it on tv a lot , loved it sense i was little and i was born in 1981 he he .

I was wondering when a thread like this would pop up!

I LOVE the '50s! Some people are even convinced that I should've lived during that time period! I am a huge fan of music from that time ('specially rock 'n roll & doo wop), and... I don't know what else to say!

Other than I look a lot like Annette Funicello, the 24th original Mouseketeer and the only one picked by Walt Disney himself. =P

Yeah! We have Elvis's gospel collection and I agree that he sang with pure feeing and raw emotion in his voice.

By the way, anybody remember Pooled skirts? I don't. :smirk:

I love Annette Funicello! Ever heard her song "Pineapple Princess"? I swear, I could listen to that song all day long, it's so fun and quirky!

BTW, did you guys know that Elvis was actually initially reluctant to accept the nickname of "The King"?

I didn't ever know they called him that while he was still alive.

I love the original MMC! I wish it were available somewhere. I've sen some episodes on Disney Channle before and I've seen clips on you tube, but I don't know if it's available anywhere to perches.

My parents were born in the 50s - my dad loves his meat and eggs, and when I make fun, he tells me that was "how it was" when he was growing up
