Hi guys. So I went to see this at the movies today with my mom... And we both sort of liked it. Of course, the music, all of Abba, is the true highlight amidst the muddled storyline. There was a scene when Donna (Meryl Streep) is helping her daughter Sophie get dressed for her wedding that got to me. But it's a good movie and Pierce Brosnen is the other major talent, the singing also taking center stage.

That brings me to the other point for this thread. If anyone could point me in the direction of a good website, if there's one, that has lyrics to Abba's songs so I can then copy and print it off for my mom I'd appreciate it. Thanks and hope others interested in the film get the chance to see it.

:sing: :flirt:

Bad news. It's got a LONG website address:

So if you want to just click on there,it'll help mew.

PS. My mom & I are planning to see it.Thanks for the review!

Thanks Kath. Heard Beth's going to see it later today too. And yes, Pierce Brosnen is one of the lead male characters, one of Sophie's dads. But I won't spoil it for mew. Hope you like it.

Last year, my family and I went to see Mamma Mia live on stage. It was a great musical with a neat story and fun music. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I bet it'll be good.

I knew this was coming out soon, but had no idea it opened yesterday until I noticed the theatre next door was showing it. It looks good, and I hope it does well at the b.o. considering it opened against Batman.

Wonder how Space Chimps will fare, as it was the other major release for the 18th...

Just saw it tonight actually:

Pros:
The relationship between the mother and daughter was lovely and very true to life
Most of the actors were moving and very fun to watch
I was happy they didn't have the daughter get married at the end
Of course the songs were awesome

Cons:
It was filmed like a regular movie rather than a musical and it felt like the dancing got completely lost
Colin Firth is a great singer and barely got to show it off, that was a crime!
All the leads, who were not Greek, were made to look like pretty, glamourous people, while the Greek extras (who weren't blond and skinny) were made to look silly. I found this extremely offensive. It's amazing how some negative stereotypes we complain about in our society, while others we still laugh at.

It is facing some really still competition and I was worried about that too but it's standing on it's own I think.
