I saw it and thought it wasn't as bad as the critics are making it out to be. I've definitely seen worse. My friend won free tickets to an advance screening so we saw it on Monday for free, so I definitely can't complain for that!

I really did think it had an interesting plotline, however, it was a hair too short for all the things they had going on. They could've taken an extra 15 minutes or so to flush out the story just a bit, especially because of the twist they introduce to us about 3/4 of the way in. All that being said though, I think it really was decent. Probably wouldn't have paid to see it normally, but would be worth renting if anyone was so inclined.

I give it a B.
Word of mouth is a lot of the movie got cut by the film editor, movie company, or both. It was suggested the movie might have been rated "R" if those scenes were not cut. But if that's true, the movie company distributing the film wanted to make sure the movie would make a lot of movie on a easier rating everyone could get into and see it, and an "R" rated movie can only be seen by people 17 or older here in the US.

Ratings are rediculous. You know how many films were ruined because they wantesd to get a certain audience?

But I digress...

I recently watched Jumper, which I was expecting to be horrible the way the critics talked about it, but it wasn't bad. I enjoyed it for what it was. I think with movies like that and with Hancock, you gotta go into it not expecting much other than maybe just having fun.
The only Jumper I want to see on the big screen is Jolly Jumper....

and I expect no one to get that reference.

Hancock is a hit.

The early estimates are in: Hancock's weekend take - $66M (total gross since Wednesday - $107M). It is a holiday weekend that's particularly good for movies so it makes sense that it would make $3M more than Wall-E's opening last week. No doubt this is a hit and I'm glad. I kind of like it when critics have to watch a poorly reviewed film skyrocket. The same thing happened with Alvin and the Chipmunks and that became 20th Century Fox's highest grossing film last year (even beating Die Hard 4).

Of course critics’ reviews and box office scores mean nothing. It's all about how an audience enjoys a film and this movie is a fun (somewhat schizophrenic) ride.

No matter what the reviews it appears there will be more Get Smart films, more Wanted, a Kung Fu Panda sequel (hope they don't Shrek it), likely another Incredible Hulk sequel and maybe even an Indy 5 a few years down the road! This has been a good summer for movies. What's next? For me it's Hellboy II: The Golden Army followed by the Dark Knight.

Well I saw Hancock today, out of pure boredom, and it wasn't that bad.

Granted I think the movie probably should have been ten or twenty minues longer. But I like the idea of this druken/washed up super hero number that likes and tries to do the right thing but ends of making a problem into a bigger problem.

You see, Jolly jumper is Lucky Luke's horse... and ... well, never mind.
Which reminds me...Isn't there a new Lucky Luke movie coming out? I saw it advertised in Denmark when I was there.

It was out back in December. Don't know if another is already in production. I was all over amazon trying to see if there was a Canadian release of the movie (as Canada has region 1, and europe has region 2), as there are Canadian releases of The New Adventures of Lucky Luke.

Ahhh. Maybe it's just a delayed release in Denmark then.

The only reason I would ever have gone to see it is for the Quantum of Solace teaser, and I saw that online, so I currently have 0 reason to see that dreck.
