just out of curosity, which characters on Pee Wee's Playhouse were puppets, besides the Randy, who is of course a marionette.

I don't know what a "puppet" really is or isn't, but I would say those flowers, Pteri (another marionette), Globie, and Mr. Kite,at least.

The jazz trio were also puppets. I think it was a dog, a bird, and a cat.

Billy Baloney was like a ventriloquist puppet and even Chairy was a puppet. So was Conky (SP?) the robot and, was it, Mr. Screen? I forget the name of the magic TV screen that was also a puppet.

IF Conky is considered a puppet, then is R2D2 a puppet?

I don't think they're exactly the same. Conky had someone inside it waving the arms around and tilting the head back and forth. R2D2 is more of a radio-controlled robot... although there are also radio-controlled puppets, so the answer is somewhat ambiguous.

I guess you could call R2 a puppet and not be wrong.

Actually there was a person in R2D2 his name was Kenny Baker at least in the three original movies. He also starred in Time Bandits. So Yes R2D2 is most definately a puppet.

As for Pee wee's playhouse that had just about everykind of puppetry even stop animation, humanettes, marionettes, costume puppets and so on.
