It's been a long time since I saw it, and I can't find my copy. I wanted to create a page for it on Muppet Wiki but wasn't sure if I should create it based on memory or not. But Time and Again is/ was an MSNBC documentary series hoste dby Jane Pauley of The Today Show. The Jim Henson docuemntary mostly had clips from Muppet appearances on The Today Show, though there were other clips, most of which were very brief (and I think many of them were clips featured in the Today Show clips, if that makes sense).
Among the clips were:
- Kermit and Chicken Liver lip-synching to Yes, We Have No Bananas in a 1962 appearance.
- Kermit and Sam lip-synching to That Old Blakc Magic in a 1960s Today Show apearances (ending with Jim and Jane Henson appearing aftewr the performance).
- The Count kissing one of the show's reporters, and counting the kisses.
- The rats working as part of the camera crew.
- An interview with Kermit and Grover promoting the Muppets 40th appearance on the show (Jim Henson and Frank Oz were also visible in this clip).
- Frank Oz being asked to talk in Cookie Monster and Grove'rs voices, as if the two were having a conversation.
- Gene Shalit interviewing Jim Henson about the closet pipes that he once decorated during an appearance on The Jack Paar Show (it was pointed out that, as of this documentary's initial broadcast -- which was 2001 -- that it still hasn't been taken down).
- An apearanc eby Miss Piggy. All I remember is that she didn't have ears in this clip (though it wasn't pointed out on-screen).
- A news report on The Dark Crystal, with Jim Henson showing how the characters work, and beginning with clips from Sesame Street (Ernie having Bert wait outside the apartment), The Muppet Movie (Kermit riding his bike), Yoda of The Empire Strikes Back, and E.T. (a narrarator says something to the effect of "First, there were puppets. Then there were Mupets. Then there was a jedi master named Yoda. And last year, there was E.T.", before getting to The Dark Crystal).
- An interview with Kermit and Jim Henson promoting The Jim Henson Hour.
- The most featured non-Today Show clip was still related to the show. The clip I'm talking about is Jane Pauley and Wilard Scott's apearance on The Jim Henson Hour. At the time I was happy that The Jim Henson Hour was represented, but disapointed that it didn't include any clips with any of the new characters, or any clips taking place at Muppet Central.
- Kermit singing Bein' Green in a 1980s apearance.
- Footage of the Mupepts and performers singing "Just One Person" at Jim Henson's memorial (I'm not sure if this clip was shown in a Today Show clip or if the documentaries producers had arranged for the clip).
There might have been more, but I can't remember.
