I can completely sympathize. My life has been largely hectic and miserable and filled with very bad luck that's snowballed on itself ever since 2002 when i was almost simultaneously thrown out of my family's house and lost a decades-long job both for being gay. I really thought througout January of this year that things were finally turning around and that this would be the year where things finally get back to being generally good. But both Feb and March has been some of my lowest points ever with tragedy after tragedy occuring including (but by no means limited to) a layoff at work. At least i had suspected it was coming up and wasn't caught off guard. This last month i've had to do many things i never would have done to earn enough money to pay bills that i certainly don't care to discuss publicly. I do have a new job that could turn out to be something that puts me on track to 2008 being a good year but it's going to take some time for that to actually happen.

In the meantime i do have boxes of stuff and the contents within all over the place - not quite for spring cleaning but looking for stuff i've had saved that i can sell to help with current finances (though having things in order is a side benefit).

I'm really sorry that's been happening. We all go through periods where it feels like we have more than our fair share of misery that just won't quit. I try to remember that it's not what happens to us in life, it's how we deal with them. There's also a quote I recently came across that made a lot of sense to me:

"I am not a happy woman. I am a cheerful woman. There's a difference. A happy woman has no cares. A cheerful woman has cares but has learned how to deal with them."

Life is full of problems, that will never entirely go away. But we can choose our response to such problems. Once we decide things are hopeless, they definitely are. It takes more guts to hope and try to make things work.
