And just like you feel about current daylight savings time... I Ain't doing it. But that's just my personal choice, though.
I totally see where you're coming from, in fact, I just now noticed I never see any of that stuff from you.

But I respect your personal choice, it's nice that some people out there actually take to time full type out what they're talking about rather than just "Lol" their way through things.

Leet. Internet language. You know... "Lol", "ROFLMAO", "Ttyl", "OMG", "***", "IIRC", etc.
Shhot, I really hate those, and I too have used them. Anyone read 1984? There was a brief mention of something that paralells this. They mentioned people dumbing down the English language, and misspellings ruining the language or something. (I wish I had a copy of that right now). I wouldn't be surprised if he meant something like that.

I especially hate gamer language. What the shell does POwned mean?

I also am getting a severe dislike of people calling each other "Bro". Seems like an even lamer way of saying "Dude." Gimme Dude any day of the week.

I can't understand most text-messaging abbreviations, myself.

One abbreviation that annoys me is "carbs," mainly because of its use in sentences that denounce carbohydrates as being unhealthy. I love eating bread, bagels, cake, pasta and all those other wonderful things that are high in carbohydrates, and I am not ashamed of it.

To be really lame and get techinical on you guys, there is a different between 1337-speak and chatspeak.

Leet-speak originated from gaming. Alot of it is short-hand words that sometimes use numbers (but whether that's because it's quicker, or it looks cool, I don't know). Examples are 1337 (which means cool, for some reason), w00t (yay) and pwned. Pwned came from a misspelling of the word 'owned', used much in the same way as the term 'schooled', to mean dominance over somebody, specifically in a game. (ex. "I beat your character at the last second; I pwned you!")

Chatspeak is the short-hand used most often on instant messaging programs. lol, rofl, brb, g2g etc. It can be useful when in a hurry or if you only have a short message to convey, but I do agree that it is really annoying when people use shorthand constantly in the place of typing out actual words. For example when tweenagers and like people use weird, phonetic shorthand - "lyk" instead of "like" or "gr8" instead of "great". That's just getting kind of lazy.

So yeah. Both are annoying and don't make much sense, and aren't particularly useful, but there you are.

And, if you don't like this stuff, I can always just SYFFITF!
(Hee hee **giggles** )

I hate internet lingo. I have no idea what half of those abbreviations mean. Can't people just type a full sentence with the words? Is it that hard?...........
