My own feelings about church aside, they didn't mean anything so benign as driving your car is now a sin. They're just saying that it's everyone's responsibility to take care of the planet. Just don't use your car irresponsibly, that's all. Also, it's important to note that this was just a Vatican official speaking off-the-cuff.. it wasn't an official statement or anything like that.. and he didn't say pollution was a new sin, what he said was "environmental irresponsibility." Sort of reminds me of The Jim Henson Hour, and the environment-centric Sesame Street of the mid-late 80s. And, of course, regardless of its consequences upon whatever you believe the afterlife to be, people should be environmentally responsible, so our children and grandchildren can have a world where they can breathe, and maybe even see snow every few years.I just heard on the news that the Catholic Church has added pollution, drugs, and genetic experiments in addition to the original Seven Deadly Sins.
Okay, what's the deal?
I mean, pollution? So what, people can't drive their cars, or take the bus anymore because they'll be "sinning"? If taking drugs is a sin, then how come smoking cigarettes, cigars, marijuana, cocaine, meth, etc, and drinking alcohol aren't? Genetic experiments, I can see to a degree, but...
