No, this is not a thread about the Broadway musical of the same name.

So...a sub-topic in the "Are You a Boy or a Girl?" thread inspired me to create this new thread. Let's see how many names we can think of that work for both male and female genders. There are tons of them and we may be surprised to hear about new ones. One common one is the name Jordan. I've heard both girls and boys named that.

Also, there are a lot of male names that have female counterpart versions. For example, the female equivalent to the name Victor would be Victoria. Another would be Louis (male) and Louise (female).

How many of these can you think of?

Off the top of my head...

Joseph/Josephine
Tommy/Tommie (or Tommi)
Henry/Henriette (or Henrietta)
Tony/Toni
Charlie/Charlene (I think)
David/Davida (That's a name, right?)
Maxwell/Maxine
Patrick/Patricia
Ernest/Ernestine (or Ernestina)
Fred/Frieda

To name a few.

Usually Tony is short for Anthony or Antonio. Not sure what the full version of the female Toni is.
And I've never heard of the name Davida. Haha! Then again, I may be surprised.

Seems like I have before, but I wasn't 100% sure. I think I'll look it up...

No such finding Davida... but hey, there's a name a made up, and it LOOKS feminine, doesn't it? Maybe I should name my first daughter Davida... aw great, now that it's out, everybody's going to use it, like when George Costanza was going to name his baby "Seven", until somebody stole the name.

Oh well, I'm never going to have kids anyway, but here are some more I just thought of...

Justin/Justine
John/Jane
Harold/Helga
Carl/Carlye
Zooey/Zoe
Butt Face/Butt Chin

Names that work with both genders:
Leslie
Jamie
Wesley
Casey

Bryan, Toni could be a short version of Antonia, for a girl.

How about John and Joan or Joanne.
Zooey? Is that a boy's name?

Butt Face/Butt Chin! I like it Snowthers. Forget Davida, name your daughter "Butt Chin"!:batty:
