Or why do I even try?
Argh, you try to say as an old member of a site that flaming isn't worth it and life is too short for that and what do they do in return? Flame you :grouchy: ! *sigh* I was only trying to help the little newbie (who is calling someone else a noob when she herself as only been on the site since last year). Does noob mean something else now :embarrassed: ? *sighs* *blocks person* *goes back to having fun on four year old account*

Redsonga,I know what you mean:
I used to be on another site that talked about retro stuff, but had a separate board that was just about stuff in general. So I mentioned (casually) that I still lived with my parents. So a couple of guys were giving me grief about it. So rather than stick around & get teased by these flamers,I left.

The Internet makes a lot of people "brave" because they can say anything they want and remain anonymous.

If the site forum had moderators worth anything then warring wouldn't happen. It's always been silly to me to see folks arguing over something of the same cause.

I was part of an online contest not too long ago and it wasn't an argument over the product or items of interest that brought us together, or maybe even not the contest rules but by which they were being carried out by those participating. Had I been a moderator there, I would have stopped the whole thing and started over. I finally decided to not participate there.

Right now, MC is about the only forum I will be participating in that much except to go into the other forums and post new information about what I'm doing or make suggestions of products or publications that I'm interested in.

My suggestion, though, is to never be involved in an online argument. You'll never win. Some folks' only claim to fame is their post-count on a forum, they are part of certain cliques, and you can't win. The "ignore" option is there for a reason. Another suggestion is, before you post, go away from the site for a few days and calm down, think about the answer to be as diplomatic and nice as you can, and then post if you need to.

The final suggestion: You're online. There are people who are just plain miserable in their own life and hide behind the anonymity of the internet trying to make others as miserable so don't let them.

Be happy!
