You all are forgetting a great vampire movie he did back in the mid 80's called "Fright Night" that came to a local theater near you. He also stared in the sequel "Fright Night Part II".

If you all haven't seen it, go rent it. It's dated, but has a lot of throwback to the great decade of the 1980's from the music, to the clothing, and to the hair.

I loved his work as Sam in the animated Return of the King.
That was my first experience with Lord of the Rings as a child, and I still dearly love that cartoon. Roddy took unusual roles very seriously, which is important for an actor.

"Welcome to Fright Night"! I adore this film, lol. A few years ago I found out it was going to be on TV. I'd never seen it before so I was very excited. But I had someplace to go that night so I decided to tape it. Unfortunately, heh, I was robbed that night. It was a horrible experience. By the time I got home it was very late and I was very depressed. But then I remembered I'd taped Fright Night! Thank goodness it was there for me when I needed it. Such a hilarious and fun movie.

Fright Night II was good, but in traditional sequal fashion, not quite as good as the original..

"I am Peter Vincent! Vampire Killer!"

Me too! And the Hobbit is great too.... although I'm not such a big fan of Bakshi's LotR :smirk: :stick_out_tongue:

Aw, off topic, but I also love Bakshi's version, lol. Yeah it's incredibly corny and weird, but it also has charm. And it was more accurate to the story than even Jackson's was (though I love Jackson's too).

But anyway, I still remember hearing Roddy's voice as Samwise: "Be off! Or I shall hurt you with nasty, cruel steal, YES!"

"One small garden of a free gardner is all of my need and due. My own hands to use. Not the hands of others to command."

(Of course, they're Tolkein's words  ).

The Hobbit cartoon is very inspirational; you really see Bilbo progress as a character.

I really like Roddy's performances on the Chuck Jones cartoon special, The White Seal. He was the narrator, along with all the other male characters while June Foray did the mother seal and the white seal as a baby. You can find The White Seal on youtube.

Actually, that was Malcolm McDowell. A different actor who starred in films like a Clockwork Orange. That Great Expectations episode aired in 2000, a couple of years after Roddy's death.
