Well, last week I created that secondary, emergency account "Colonel Hogan" here in case anything happens to my regular "D'Snowth" account here, but I have a confession to make: I've NEVER seen an episode of Hogan's Heroes! NEVER! I know that a very young, clean-shaven Richard Dawson is part of the cast, and that it's a sitcom that takes place during a war.
Actually, all I've actually seen relating to Hogan's Heroes is an old commercial the cast and Carol Channing did in the 1960s for Jell-O as it's been posted twice on YouTube (hey, ever COMMERCIALS had laugh tracks back then)!
My parents have introduced me to a lot of these classic sitcoms that I've grown to love, and my dad has been trying to get me to watch the show for the longest time, even trying to convince me that it's "better than M*A*S*H"; that I find hard to believe because, like all of you know, M*A*S*H is my favorite show. BUT, I know quite a few people who are fond of Hogan's Heroes as well.
So, should I check this show out? Is it worthy of my attention? If I love classic sitcoms like I do, would I love this show too? Is it sitcomy enough to deserve the laugh track? Does the way my dad compares M*A*S*H to it seem similar to that whole Bewitched Vs. I Dream of Jeannie thing? Did they even HAVE Jell-O during WWII? If they're all American, why is Richard Dawson speaking with an Australian accent, and that chef dude speaking with a French accent? Do you want me to shut up now? Did you know that I once had thirteen bottles of Snapple Apple in the fridge? Do you want me to shut up now? Hey... what are you going to do with that anvil?
