STEVE MARTIN:

During the cold opening, Steve is fully dressed, yet, when he finds out the show's been cancelled, he's wearing a bathrobe and shower cap.

When Kermit announces the show's been cancelled, Uncle Deadly can be seen in the audience.

Janice can be heard laughing during some of Steve's comedy bits, although she is not seen.

Steve recycled several old bits on this episode. The "Ramblin' Guy" song appeared on his comedy album "Let's Get Small", and he did a variation on the "Balloon Animals" routine about 12 years later in the film "Parenthood", thus taking Gonzo's suggestion about doing the bit in a feature film.

Mary Louise is the same puppet used in several reptile/amphibian-themed numbers in Season One (namely "I'm In Love With A Big Blue Frog" and "Never Smile At A Crocodile").

Floyd mentions his vibraphone solo got cancelled. He previously had shown his proficiency on this instrument in the Don Knotts episode.

The Newsman can be seen in this episode cuddling with Wanda, who is either wearing a blonde wig or has changed her hair color.

Although Gonzo is reluctant to dance with a male slice of cheese in this episode, he'll later become a bit more open-minded (we'll get to that shortly).

CAROL BURNETT:

This is the second episode in which Julie Andrews' "Muppet Show" appearance is referenced. Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews are good friends and have often performed together.

Some of the dancing couples in Gonzo's dance marathon include the two Snowths, two of the babies from Bobby Benson's Baby Band, Statler & Waldorf, a raccoon and Gloat (wearing a blonde wig), Robin's Frog Scout leader Mrs. Applebee and another middle-aged frog (who bears a slight resemblance to Gil from TMTM), Annie Sue and Link Hogthrob, Carol Burnett (as a cleaning lady) and her mop, Carol Burnett and Animal, and Zelda Rose and an unnamed elderly gentleman.

Gonzo is a bit more open-minded in this episode. In the Steve Martin episode, he had his apprehensions about not dancing with a female slice of cheese, but here he has no problem claiming Kermit as a dance partner, however, Kermit is later seen dancing with Miss Piggy. In a similar move, Link Hogthrob and Dr. Strangepork are dancing together during the "Pigs In Space" sketch.

The brown puppy that appears in the "Jogging" song (Danny Kaye ep) and "Baby Driver" (Paul Simon ep) appears during "The Pokey Polka".

When Carol's first number ("Watch What Happens") gets ruined, she makes a reference to the song "The Windmills Of Your Mind", which was sung by a Fraggle-like creature in the Don Knotts episode.

Oddly enough, the Electric Mayhem don't perform the music for the dance marathon.

One of the songs heard is an instrumental of "I'm Just Wild About Harry". This is the second time during "The Muppet Show"'s run that this song is used (the first time was in the Jean Stapleton episode).

At one point, Animal does succeed in getting under Carol Burnett's dress, thus living up to his name. Carol even says so! ("You really ARE an animal...")

GILDA RADNER:

During the cold opening, Gilda plays Emily Littella, one of her many "Saturday Night Live" characters.

Billy the Bear (who was also seen in the Marty Feldman and John Denver episodes, not to mention a few appearances on "Sesame Street") makes an appearance in the "Lullaby of Broadway" number.

Just before the closing number, Zoot and Rowlf are seen running backstage, not stuck to their instruments, where they had been previously during the episode.

During the song "Witch Doctor", Marvin Suggs' moustache flies off (just before his head turns into a Muppaphone).

Muppets glued to Gilda Radner at the goodnights: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, the 7-foot carrot, a pig in an Eskimo costume, the witch doctor, and Uncle Deadly.

Actually, Gloat wears a lavender wig. The Pink Frackle also has an orange wig, and the Green Frackle has a pink wig.

Richard Hunt is certainly laughing, but *not* as Janice.

He cuddles up to a female Whatnot and not Wanda. This particular Whatnot had already appeared in the first season.

Statler and Waldorf are the judges and while they do dance in their box, they're not counted as contestants.

The brown puppy that appears in the "Jogging" song (Danny Kaye ep) and "Baby Driver" (Paul Simon ep) appears during "The Pokey Polka".
I presume you're referring to "Dog Walk" which was the UK spot in the Spike Milligan episode.

At one point you hear someone yell out "Rully!" So I guess Richard was trying to make her presence known, even if she wasn't seen in the audience. :flirt:
