Well...there is an answer to that, which could be to do with God's curse and 'on thy belly thee shall go'...but I do have another question, are these Short-lived topics going to be another fad, because they could swiftly rise to being annoying if they stick around in more and more threads. Why not just raise the new question, in the old thread?

I thought snakes having no legs was a punishment from God?

Well in actuality God made snakes just the way they are like He made every other animal as it is. Worms and fish don't have any legs either.

Snakes of course cannot talk either. It was God's adversary Satan who tempted the first woman Eve to disobey God's command not to eat the fruit off just one particular tree speaking through a snake as a conduit. Adam, the first man, listened to Eve repeat the temptations of Satan and he too disobeyed and ate.
God used the description of how snakes crawl upon their bellies with their faces in the dust to illustrate the Judgement upon Satan through what His Son Jesus would one day accomplish in the future.

He would crush Satan's head and Satan would only bite Jesus' heel.
Figuratively just as the person who was bitten in their heel could get an anti-venom medicine to save them while the snake with its head crushed was lost for good, so did Satan bite Jesus on the heel when he had Him crucified through wicked men. But Jesus was saved and crushed Satan defeating him utterly when He rose again three days later.
