Does anyone think this is a cool idea for a topic- an award ceremony for MC members! I thought it could be fun to make up different (appropriate) awards dedicated to different members! Just tell me how you feel about this, and if you feel ok with it, you can be the first one to present an award!

So how would you feel about this? Your thoughts count!

That's right we did. It was lots of fun.

We should definitely have it again sometime.

Quick note... Before things get out of control and people start posting in here, muffining like crazy as some of us are wont to do...

If a new MC Awards gets started, here are two rules.
1 No campaign threads. If I see even one campaign thread, it'll get deleted as those threads generally evolve into one particular member bombarding us with "Vote for me! Vote for me!" messages daily. Hate to say this, but that's one of the factors that led me to dislike a certain person here who'll remain nameless. Also, threads like that can make some others feel hurt or equally annoyed.
2 To prevent the possibility of campaign threads, no votes will be posted online. Any posts where a member lists the names they voted for in such and such other category, it'll get deleted too. For this reason, send your votes via PM or E-mail through the forum's messenger to the person or persons organizing the awards thread.

That is all... Please keep this in mind before starting the insanity.

You're right Ed. We don't want the friendly atmosphere of our boards disrupted.
Those two rules are a very good idea.

Meh, we have like two of these kind of "award ceremonies" every year, and each one is worse than the one before because people tend to go overboard with categories, nominations, and like Count said, campaigning; in fact, the last award ceremony we had, one guy was sooooo desperate for votes that he started an entire thread begging people to vote for him.

I'm my opinion, these award ceremonies have gotten really old really fast, and truth be told, if another one were to surface, I'd like to ask that I be excluded from it because I simply don't feel like participating in these things for quite some time.

Actually, to tell you the truth, the 2 rules are really good, and needed. I think that if you have it like the thread for the Muppet elections, this might work. BUT, then again, ya never know. I also think that if somebody PMed somebody with a list of nominees for the topics and stuff, have that list trimmed to the top 5 nominees, THEN have them PM the person with the vote, and THEN have the awards show. Maybe that's just me, maybe my idea sucks, who knows?

Well, if we do decide to do another award show, I'd be thrilled to host it again. So, I'm throwing my hat into the hosting race. If there even is a race. :stick_out_tongue:

On another note, I don't think it would be wise to start these awards now, because we won't have our spectacular artist, Vic Romano, around to create the awards again, which was most definitely the highlight of last years show, IMO. I think Vic will be back sometime in the fall, so if we can hold off till then, I think we should.

No, we could do the nominations and stuff now, and the show would be ready by the time he comes back to do the award and stuff.
