It's all a rights issue when it comes to things missing.

Yeah. Which is why I was surprised with the SNL set. I mean, there are some pretty big performers on it. You've got ABBA, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Billy Preston, Randy Newman, Patti Smith, etc. I'm sure one of the reasons why there aren't a lot of extras (aside from screen tests) is because the DVD company shelled out the cash for the various rights to the artists' music and image. Which is fine by me. When some of these episodes were released on VHS in the 80s, some of the musical acts were cut out.
The set also includes the classic Polaroid camera commercials (which probably haven't been seen since their original broadcast). The host and/or cast member would appear mid-way through the show, and demonstrate live, on air, how the then-new Polaroid instant-photo camera worked. Someone would take a picture, and the home viewer would get a look at an actual photo taken just seconds before. These could have been easily ommitted, too, but were included in their respective shows.
