You have a point, C.G. Just that one sample could be enough to lead to the symbiote "giving birth" to Carnage. Though I'm curious to know how much of the graphic violence that he brings to the comics will have to be dumbed down for the film to get another PG-13 rating.

Marvel managed to get away with it in the 90's, and they had the Comics Code then. I remember reading an exerpt from a comic of one of Carnage's first appearances where he killed a guy just because ha had a "funny name".

A lot of people say Venom should've had more screentime in this film, and I agree, because 20 minutes isn't enough for this guy (it actually felt more like three). If they do make a fourth film, then he should be the main villain (right next to The Lizard). And most of all, he refers to himself as "I" and not "We" like he does in the comics. That was my biggest pet peeve of his performance in this film.

I think he should have had more screentime, but I think they should have the seccond male venom in 6 (Former scorpion). Gotta go. More opinions later.

While we are on the subject of super-heros (and this has evolved into more of a super-hero-ish thread than a strictly spidey one) LIV TYLER will be Betty Ross in The Incredible Hulk. How amazing is THAT???

Big Star Power for the movie, and I think she'll do a fantastic job in the role.

Pepe: Plus she is hoot, hokay.

Actually, I am very excited for the next Hulk movie as I loved the first one's unique style and design, athough I'm sure they won't be using the split screen effects for a second one...*sigh* Oh, and I completly didn't understand the Hulk story but that's beside the point...

From what I have read, The Incredible Hulk WILL NOT have anything to do with Ang Lee's Hulk. That's what's a little confusing for me...so a new director and a new cast are going to start a new franchise, and totally ignore the first film? (That wasn't sarcasm...I'm actually asking "so a new director and a new cast...") Interesting.

I liked Hulk. Thought it was an interesting departure for Lee.

And yes, Liv Tyler is very attractive!

Back to topic:

I do intend to see Spidey 3. I never listen to critics one way or the other, but I was a bit surprised to see so many negative reviews.

Months before this came out, there was speculation that this would be the ultimate Spider-Man movie. But some of the criticism...ouch! I don't recall the first two films getting such harsh reviews. Maybe they did, I wasn't paying attention.

But like I said, I don't listen to critics. I read reviews because I find them entertaining, but ultimately the final choice is mine as to whether or not a film is a keeper. A lot of my favorite films have been critically panned.

It's understandable that this one would get some negative reviews, but every third film in "Superhero Cinema" goes through this dilemma. X-Men 3 went through the same thing last year. Some people love it, and some hated it. That's why I think they should just stop here with this one, because if they make a fourth one, the franchise will really start bombing.

As far as that news on Liv Tyler being Betty Ross goes, I'm finding a whole new reason to look forward to this sequel. Marvel really seems to have a thing going with an all-star casting for The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man next year.

To answer your question, Winslow, it might have some references to the first film, but otherwise it will be a whole completely different film. I'm surprised that some of you think the last one was good, because a lot of fans of both the comics and the 70s show with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno thought that it was boring with all of the character development and screwed-up origins of Bruce Banner and the Hulk.

I thought the first one was good, but not great. Honestly, I just look for the story, not the action. And action seemed to have been what a lot of people were looking for in the first film.

Hmm...no, it wasn't the action I was looking for at all in The Hulk. I had read the novelisation before watching the movie, so I already knew the basic story on a deepish level, but it was the camera-angles, smooth transitions, etc that really made the film real for me.

I guess the question now is, where do we go from here? It's already been announced that Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6 are going to be made, regardless of who comes back.

I think that, despite whether or not Raimi, Maguire, and Dunst come back, the fourth film needs to be smaller than the third. There was too much that was crammed in... there was enough material for three films in there. My vote is to focus the fourth film on Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, once again played by Dylan Baker, of course. It would be a good story to tell, albeit a step back in terms of scale, but at this point, I don't think anyone would really mind.
