Yeah. That distinctive beat was by drummer Jerry Allison, who was pounding on a cardboard box. Buddy and the Crickets also recorded a version of "Bo Diddley."

"Not Fade Away" was the very last song Buddy ever played. He finished his set with it at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa, before his fatal flight.
