I do understand about the whole money issue. Sometimes I will borrow a book from the library, and have to borrow it again because It was a long book and I didn't finish reading it on time, or try to read too many books at one. But I always feel guilty when that happens because I can't help but feel like I'm keeping that book from somebody else who might want to check it out.

Yeah I mean ideally our libraries should be able to keep up with the books being published, but I imagine money is always an issue.

On that subject, I love going to my library's little book store because someone almost always leaves an old VHS, record album or book behind, very often Muppet related! You never know what you'll find.
It is an issue, definitely. Even though library use is going through the roof with the economy being what it is, a lot of libraries are facing funding problems.

I did a story a while back on how some of the libraries around here are coping with the jump in traffic. The director at one of them told me that the staff tries to order multiple copies of a popular best-seller, so there won't be problems with a book being out of the system.

(And sometimes, every single one of those copies will get checked out all at once!)

Plus what about when that book becomes less popular and is no longer a best seller? One would have to wonder about that as well, cause than the libraries would be stuck with all this copies. I'm sure they would just sell them off, but probably for much cheaper than what they bought it for, :sympathy:

Yeah, that's why God invented the Friends of the Library and their annual book sales. 50 cents for paperbacks, a buck for hardcovers, or something. And the money goes to buy new books and computers, so it's all good.

But around here, most of the libraries are part of one big regional system, so those copies usually get spread around the system.

A lot of libraries around here have actually had to stop accepting book donations because they don't have enough shelf space. In fact, at one library not too far from here, I saw a really good sign that said, "Sorry, we're not accepting books right now - our basement is too full!"

I went to the book store yesterday, man so many books I would actually buy, if I was rich or something.

It's seems amazing to me that no matter what most of those books cost at least 20 bucks,

Yeah. Everything is so expensive I need to restrict my collectors budget. Sometimes easier said than done though. :frown: :embarrassed:

The only thing is let's hope that people take good care of them so others can have a chance of enjoying them second hand.:concern:

Well, it's appromixatly 30 days till the wedding now!

Holy crap am I nervous...got so much to do and all. Gotta pick up my dress on the 10th, get lots of other stuff in line. Find my nylon corset to go with my dress; get my shoes cleaned, pick out my makeup and how I'll do my hair!

I've been shaking periodically like I'm about to have a seizure, and that's geniunely scary for me. I once had a seizure, eons ago when I was little; but that was a one-time thing thank the Lord....I just hope the stress from all this dosn't send me into one on the big day. Though I doubt it will, I think that one time was because I was in a car accident soon before it occured.

Has anyone else heard of somebody having one seizure; due to stress, yet not be epileptic? Because although my doctor said it is possible, I've never heard of it in my life.

So how are you guys doing? I'll post my wedding ceremony to YouTube, once it happens and I get it onto the computer too. I'll let you guys know (sometime after the honeymoon of course) and I'll post a link for ya. It'll probably be like, 3 different videos or something. Like broken into parts ya know?

I know what you mean. I have to admit it annoys me a little bit when people don't take care of the books.

Hope you can get calm, Sara!

Just living from day to day.
