Is it any wonder Richard was On New Kid Marty Robinson like that when He was spent eight years doing right arms before they tossed a puppet on him. :stick_out_tongue:
Yeah I mean when you had to work 8 years before getting main characters, it is hard to see other new comers come in and start right away. Luckily they did eventually find some common ground, lol.

Yeah, I'm glad they got to understand each other better. I mean I don't blame Richard for being at least kind of suspicious. I mean he was probably thinking something like who does this kid think he is? Does eh think he owns the place or somethin'? lol!

I also thought it was funny what Kevin said about his first encounter with season street. They called him and said that they had a job for him... It was the middle or back half of Snuffy and he said that Richard and Jerry had done it and it torn the backs up and they couldn't get in him anymore. Then he goes on to say that, "I guess it was my turn"... lol! :stick_out_tongue:

But Marty is a black belt and that helps him hold up Snuffy's rather large and heavy head, and he also has to wear a harness belt in there too.

Lol, it does sound like there was this sense in the group that everyone must suffer at some point! Sort of like the opposite of the upstaging rule. :insatiable:

Yeah! Good point! You have to suffer and be humble first, before you get to upstage!

My friend made a good point about this once about people who are brutal perfectionist performers. You have to feel a little bad for them because as hard as they can be on other people, imagine how hard they must be on themselves.

I know what you're friends means. And Richard seems like the kind of person who is completely dedicated to what he does and gave it his all. Or was the muppeteers like to put it, there all just crazy.

Your friend's right, heralde. I'm kind of a perfectionist too, and I'm also my own worst critic. It's why Richard's remarks about how we need to all "stop giving ourselves such a hard time" really stick with me.

And you know, listening to his voice when he's talking about it, he sounds like someone who's been there. We all see the side of him that's spontaneous, off-the-cuff and upbeat, but I'm pretty certain that Richard had days when he was his own worst critic.

I agree, I'm really glad he realized that had to be the hallmark moment in his speech, because it's something everyone goes through at some point. Sometimes I have to stop and realize that all the negativity in my head should be ignored because it's completely out of proportion! :insatiable:

I had to share this, from Tough Pigs:

You know, I had always wondered about that yarn hair, lol.

Lolz! Good joke.

I think the real reason for the yarn is that the puppet builders at Henson just wanted to try out as many different materials/ideas as possible. Check out all the different ways they found to make hair: boas, satin, fur, fake hair, wool etc. Or all the "eyes"/eyelids: Floyd, Scooter, Janice, Swedish Chef, Dr. Teeth, Kermit, Lips, Cookie... Very inventive.

Yeah, there's an article on Muppet Wiki about Muppet eyes...and there's a close-up of eight different types of eyes, including Scooter's.

When we did the AIDS panel for Richard, for Scooter's hair Mom swiped a few strands of orange carpet yarn from some hooked rug she'd made years ago. Whatever works, I guess.
