I actually fist noticed a change in Scooter's vocals cords after seeing the Brook Shields episode of the Muppet show one night. I instantly recognized how it was higher pitched in earlier episodes and how it sounded more in the range of Gladys The Cows. It was also more distinguished and mature. Like he was more confident and self assured about what he was doing.
That's interesting, I'll have to check it out!

Well, now that I think about it it a little between Gladys and The lead singer of the Sesame Street Beetles. But it was still distinctly scooter. I wonder about it because it was a season five episode. Maybe he had grown in age and importance some at this point in time.

Don't really have anything in particular to talk about, but Rob will be coming and spending the weekend with me at my parent's house. To keep me company as both of them will be gone Friday and Saturday, and possibly Sunday!

It'll be so nice though. Even though it'll be like we're playing "house", it's gonna be awesome.

I was able to check it out yesterday, I do see what you mean. It's like maybe Richard had been exagerrating Scooter's high pitched little boy voice in earlier seasons, and then eventually decided it was OK to back off from that and make him sound a bit more mature, like a young adult.

Exactly. And also his voice began to deepen just a little naturally with age, Like Mel Blanc with bugs bunny, Or even what Steve was saying about how he had no idea what he was doing in his earlier days as a performer and how his voice has changed over the years and how he can't do characters he once used to. It's funny how he says he's unsure if he can still do Wembley and everyhting, heh! :concern:

Yeah I remember that part of the interview, I never thought of that but I guess your voice does keep changing, even after puberty, hehe. One of the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings actually said the same thing. When having to go back and re-record dialogue, he found it difficult to sound that young again.

And hey, you never know, it might be interesting to hear Wembley's "mature" voice, lol. Or maybe not...Well sort of! :coy:

Wow, this Tough Pigs interview with Steve continues to be awesome! I'd recommend reading the whole interview, but here is the part I liked best, hehe:

Richard was a lot about justice. He was always about the underdog. He’d bring people in and help them and show them and give tours of the workshop. He was a great diplomat for the Muppets as much as anything.
I really identify with this, I've always been really frustrated if I see injustice and always stood up for the underdog in school (even when it got me in trouble, lol). And as my friends will tell you, I can be quite the insane advocate for the things I care about, like the Muppets, lol.

And btw, I have always loved Tough Pigs, their commentaries on Muppet specials and Ugly Muppet Toy contests are hilarious, lol.

Well, you wouldn't sound exactly like you would at the age of 90 as you would 23, heh! But I do think that the lowering and maturing of scooters voice may have just been a natural progression of the character. I'm thinking maybe is just happened over time. This is what I think the issue is of finding Scooter a presently replacment. Where do you tart and where do you take him from there. At what point in scooter development do you start as a reformer? That's the problem with characters that have been around for a long time. You go at one point he sounded like or his personality was like this. What part or point would people remember best? That the problem with bugs that have three or four guys that all sound like Mel Blanc but at dirfferent times in his career and they can't settle at one point that they think he sounded the best or most recodnizable.

Yeah! I really like Tough pigs a lot too! They were really slow moving for a while there, though. Richard seemed like he was always one to say exactly what was on his mind. He could just image him telling the puppet builders something to the tune of, "Hey! Can we get a neck or scooter, here! How are you suppose to preform him properly how he doesn't have a neck?" hehe!

He does really seem like a fair guy!
