Or perhaps his sweet tooth caught up with him?
Well he had the gap since childhood when he fell off the jungle gym and some teeth got knocked out. I imagine he had it up until after Down at Fraggle Rock.

*is reminded of when Farley Dexter Hatcher--or Fudge--did that in a certain Judy Blume book and swallowed his teeth*

In Richard's case, it was a combination of genetics and an accident on the playground when he was a little kid. Ouch.

Just took another glance at the final scene of Trading Places, with the mob scene in the trading pit. Richard pretty much turns into a human pinball...and he really looks unwell when he has to be carried out in a fireman hold.

(off camera)
Voice: And cut!
(Richard is set down in a spot off camera - Frank Oz is sitting nearby at a crew table, still in costume as the corrupt cop.)
Frank: How'd it go, Richie?
Richard: (wincing) I got a wingtip in the ribs. Pass me a glass of that juice, will ya?
Frank: Dan and Eddie looked really great out there. (hands over glass of orange juice) So how's it looking for the Dukes?
Richard: (snicker) They're toast.
Frank: Speaking of which, pass me the butter and jam...thanks.

MN, love those dialogues!

Man, discussing the gap, feels like old times doesn't it?

Actually I also recalled the gap there in TP, but Jane did say she wasn't sure.

If it was at another time, another thing to consider is, without braces, there's always the risk of teeth moving back by themselves. I had braces as a kid but to this day I wear them on the back of the front teeth, otherwise I'd have a gap of my own!

Btw, Steve did say he would try and post the photos he discussed on his site!

I couldn't really listen to the MuppetCast, since it kept fizzling on me, so I'd really love to see some of the photos that Jane and Steve talked about. I mean - all that stuff they discussed, all the photos and memorabilia and stuff - that's a Muppet fan's dream come true.

Yup same thing happened to me until I downloaded it. I would mention it to Steve again. I know that would be so thrilling! Since we have received a few disapointments lately, fans have to make that extra effort! But that's OK, it's good to fight for something you care about.

Wait? Didn't a gap used to be a beauty mark or somethings like that. It was a sigh of beauty. Not it's turned into something hideous that people try to rid themselves of.
