Would much rather get the regular Grover Monster in the announced 2-pack with Mr. Johnson and letter N before a "Green Proto-Grover" were to be released.

Would rather have Osvaldo added to the line before Orange Oscar, but that's just me.

And now we have to contend with the possibility of variants being numbered volume releases moving forward instead of being their own subline of exclusive variant releases.

Also, I think the confusion over this Big Bird repaint was because in their article covering this figure line Muppet Wiki states said variant is from Follow That Bird. But after reading the pre-order info, it seems that this is Blue Bird, the superhero persona created by himself, who had only two brief appearances on the show. Also, there's one new accessory added to the pack, namely a book. What book?

Not sure if I'll purchase this figure and maybe I'll get him through the online markets when I do decide. *Shrugs.

I didn't know he has a blue bird persona on the show. That explains how they could do it.

They also recolored the letter B from blue to yellow.

So I looked up Blue Bird and I have a feeling that was a way of getting around the rights issue. If this were a true "Blue Bird" he would have a different head and an emblem on his chest. This might be why Trevor wasn't 100% on this coming out when asked about Vol 6. Knowing NECA, if this was always planned to be an obscure character like that, they would have done the alt head and emblem.

Either way, this will be FTB Big Bird to me.

You're probably right. Such a weird roundabout way they can do it.

I hope this blue Big Bird sells well enough to help the line. Since I have little interest in buying it, and I assume I'm on the upper end of the spectrum of interest in the line overall, I wonder how many NECA will be able to sell. As others have pointed out, it's an easy repaint for a figure and a con exclusive; so, the costs are probably pretty low. I just hope that it is a net benefit for the line and doesn't create financial or optics concern for the line. If sales are as low as I expect them to be, I'm worried it could make NECA leadership question the line.

Yeah, I was skeptical myself this will be a slam dunk and that people will be all over it.
