Hey guys, we finally have a start date for the 2026 Target Fall Geek out. ToyNews states that the event will take place on Fridays from next week, September 11 to October 2, with September 18 already designated as "Hasbro Day". So the wait extends a bit longer to any of the other three Fridays to hopefully get the Volume 6 reveal.

I'm hoping a Muppet Show figure or two are included in the event. I just wish Target events weren't so stressful. It's always a challenge to order figures online given how fast they sell out and how random the timing seems to be. Plus, the stores near me are inconsistent with putting anything out. I'm still really excited to see what, if anything, comes out!

I don't think this event will honestly have any Muppets or Sesame. It doesn't seem like NECA ever shadowdrops stuff; it seems like Volume 6 should be at NYCC. NECA's website has pushed Oscar into next year. Sheesh

Well, nobody ever said that the Volume 6 reveal/release was 100% set in stone for the Target Fall Geek Out. What we have is the SDCC video where Trevor says 2026 is about trying to establish a calendar with four releases per year at the rate of one release per quarter. He then said 2027 would most probably be dedicated to catching up and releasing what was already shown at the conventions in 2025, name dropping a potential future addition of Cookie Monster, and the next release after Big Bird in August 2026. So we thought, wait a minute, what potential con or event is there in August? And that's when the Target Fall Geek Out popped up as the answer, even though it's now starting in September 2026 instead.


But hey, that's why we're having to be plugged to wait and go through Target's page for the following four weeks time to see if Volume 6 does get revealed and/or released. But if not, I agree that it makes sense for this next release at NYCC, not sure how much time that leaves for Oscar to be released in 4th Quarter 2026 though (depending on what three month period is now considered as "4th Quarter" by NECA).

I hope you're wrong, but you could certainly be correct. Does shadowdrop mean putting something for sale without displaying it beforehand? If so, isn't that what happened with Super Grover? Does NECA usually have exclusives for sale at NYCC? I have no idea. Either way, I hope volume 6 is a figure that comes out this year.

Super Grover wasn't a shadowdrop; he was shown at Toy Fair prior to his release. It means if the reveal is literally someone just finding it on a store shelf, or if there's like an Instagram post revealing them the day they come out. I don't think that's NECA's MO. Imagine if we go from them showing characters years before they come out to shadowdrops lol.

I suppose it's possible Kermit, Mahna Mahna or Gonzo could release at the final Friday of Geek-Out, but I don't know how likely that is.

My guess is that Volume 6 will just be shown at NYCC and be out sometime this year since there's now such a huge gap with NECA quietly pushing Oscar into Q1 '27.

So it's like, we might as well already suspect next year as Oscar > Herry > Cookie > Sherlock. Maybe '28 opens with Grover & Mr. Johnson, and then a more popular character gets inserted before Frazzle. I've always thought Frazzle has "canceled figure" written all over him since his reveal. It's too good to be true.

I'd expect a different lineup since Trevor said he wanted to break the blue characters away from immediately after each other. The way I think such a plan would be doable would be:

Volume 6, whichever figure it ends up being.
Volume 7: Oscar The Grouch, green character.
Herry Monster, blue character.
Sherlock Hemlock, green character with brown plaid coat, still no news on Watson.
Grover & Mr. Johnson 2-pack, both blue characters.
Frazzle, red-orange character.
Then, if the line's still going, Cookie Monster, blue character.

Course, they could add Guy Smiley and/or the Two-Headed Monster to have further separation. The great thing is I'm already scheming the display of all these figures in my mindspace.

@Blue Frackle Thanks for reminding me about Super Grover being shown at Toy Fair before Haulathon. I thought he wasn't shown until he was announced for Haulathon, but I was apparently misremembering. That makes my whole idea of them holding off showing figures that are part of Target events completely wrong. I guess I need to adjust my expectations.

Your guess about the volume 6 figure being tied to NYCC in October makes sense. Maybe it will go up for pre-order shortly before the con, and a final product will be on display there. It seems too quick a turn around for it to be first shown an NYCC and still come out before the end of the year. Maybe though.

The whole "blue" thing to me is pretty ridiculous. I think there was a recent interview where Trevor made it sound like Cookie is going to be pushed up quickly. It's hard to imagine he's going to be held off that long; perhaps the second-most popular merchandising character after Elmo, to be pushed that far past someone as obscure as Frazzle.

I think the Grover turnaround was pretty quick, like just a few weeks between Toy Fair and him actually hitting shelves.

With regards to Volume 4 Super Grover:

The reveal at the annual American International Toy Far was on Valentine's Day, February 14 2026.
The figure went up as part of Target's 2026 Haulathon exclusives on March 27 2026.
So that's about a month in terms of turn around from reveal to release.
It's possible that the Volume 6 "could" be revealed as part of the 2026 Fall Geek Out and then released for sale at this year's NYCC, or it "could" be revealed at the con in October and then released in November/December.

As far as Cookie Monster, he could be switched up for earlier release with any of the figures revealed through the 2025 conventions. But again, I got the sense that Trevor wanted to get everything revealed in 2025 released first before moving foward to any new figures. Who knows, maybe Cookie Monster will be the Volume 6 reveal which could slot in with the alternating blue character releases perfectly.

NECA usually have a major property for Geekouts and Haulathons. With TMNT gone from the equation, I think Sesame will have to have something for the fall geekout. They could do the reveal online.

It could be a variant of an existing character. Maybe a Blue Big Big, maybe it is something we have already been shown like Frazzle or Sherlock or the 2 pack of Mr. Johnson and Grover. There have been enough reveals that would allow for a Geekout figure. Probably not The Muppet Show, though.
