I don't even think Sesame Workshop is aware that Episode 1 got taken down

Popping back in just to clarify what may be going on - I’m 100% convinced unfortunately it may be a case of YouTube’s annoying AI bots detecting a naked child being involved in the “You can clean almost anything” film, because I do believe I recall that particular film being flagged by individual uploads on YouTube, and the possibility some full episode uploads with that segment being taken down for the same BS reasons.

I also know of this because my upload of “This is How We Take a Bath” was flagged and removed for the same stupid reasons. Simply because there was a brief shot where (unfortunately) you do see a little boy’s mid section that wasn’t properly hidden. And their stupid bots detect this kind of stuff.

So yeah, it’s annoying but I believe that’s why it got taken down unfortunately.

I could also say the same thing for episodes with the film segment "Indian Baby Bath" - the AI bots may have detected a naked baby in such film.

There may also be episodes with "B for certain boy and Bosco taking a bath" cartoon segment, and the pediatrician film (which was a recurring segment, and aired on Ep. 1854) that contains a naked infant that may also have been impacted, or if they're not impacted they will be pretty soon.

And also, there was a recurring cartoon segment with Goldilocks demonstrating hot and cold and she was briefly nude. Plus, there was another recurring cartoon segment featuring a boy's pants falling down when trying to rescue a baby bird, revealing a portion of his "derriere".

That's a total of five recurring segments that featured nudity.

And finally, there was a March 1990 episode with Maria and Luis giving Gabriela (as an infant) a bath, and revealed her "derriere". I did get that episode a few weeks ago, and I must say that scene was very disgusting. Makes me glad a lot of those inappropriate segments were dropped by the 1990s.

EDIT: Just scoped YT just now. All five of those recurring classic segments are still on YT, three of them for about two decades.

You're probably right. That's the problem with using AI to moderate offensive content. Sometimes innocent things will get taken due to the lack of human moderation.

I just discovered something. I don't think AI bots detected the nude kid in "You Can Clean Almost Anything" and flagged it as inappropriate, as a Noggin broadcast of Episode 1800 - which has that segment kept intact - is still not impacted. I am thinking someone may have flagged it as inappropriate and YT took care of it, and the Workshop didn't even notice.

But yeah, I still believe there are AI bots screening everything on YT, including comments. Regarding a comment on a game show episode on YT, I did learn on another forum that someone made a "foot fetish" comment about a female cast member's bare feet, and YT removed it and put the comment in the category of "Bullying and harassment". Bullying it's not, but harassment most likely - as it is inappropriate to make comments on body parts on YT.

AI bots are everywhere. YouTube, Facebook, X, etc. Next thing AI bots could be implemented to Muppet Central.

The difference is that one has been up for a decade now while the official upload has only been up for a few months. Compared to also the fact that that episode 1 upload probably had more “exposure” with the algorithm and views, it made it an easier target.

I know this sounds ridiculous but speaking from experience as well, this seems to be one of those cases of “this episode upload came about after YouTube got more strict with their TOS compared to 2016, especially with all of this COPPA BS.” Similar deal with Jeremy AKA Sesame Maniac’s single upload of the film being uploaded in September 2016.

It’s possible in the near future that episode upload could also be taken down if that particular segment gets detected as “inappropriate,” same thing with the aforementioned single upload as well. Again, I think it’s honestly just a case it “slipped” under the radar simply with how broken YouTube’s system truly is due to the fact that they were uploaded when it wasn’t so easy to get dinged on YouTube for very stupid reasons.
